User talk:Frank A. Italy
To combat the uncontrolled marketing of brief TEFL courses, a free online TEFL course is now offered as a confidence builder for new teachers. Beware of claims that brief TEFL courses "certify" or "qualify" teachers abroad. Frank A. Italy (talk) 06:39, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Teaching abroad
[edit]Please note that all references in Wikipedia articles must meet our reliable sources guidelines; the one you added to Teaching abroad does not. If you have any questions, you can post them here or on the article's talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 05:35, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- And you just added the same info with the same reference again. Please do not re-add that information to that article without a reliable source. If you have questions about what a reliable source is, please feel free to ask. Qwyrxian (talk) 08:17, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Please, if you have not already done so, familiarize yourself with the guideline at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Thanks. --Bejnar (talk) 02:35, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
The reference I added may not meet Wiki criteria as a reliable source (I'm only a full-time TEFL teacher with 20 years' experience teaching in three countries), but my edit adds balance to the un-referenced claims that short TEFL courses are useful rather than fraudulent. If the blanace I added is not acceptable, then this article isn't impartial, in violation of Wikipedia guidelines. Frank A. Italy (talk) 09:04, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- The requirement to be neutral does not override the requirement that all information be verified by reliable sources. Personal experience, unfortunately, does not count as a reliable source. If you can find a newspaper article, academic journal article, or other similar reliable source that states that these course don't provide useful skills/certification, then you could definitely add the info. Let me know if you have questions. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:36, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- I left in part of what you wrote at Teaching abroad, although I added some maintenance templates to it. The part I left is vaguely okay, although it does seem a little POV to me without sources. Let's continue any more discussion on the article's talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:42, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
