Yusho

Hi, I was thinking about making Yusho into a proper article; and I've put down some thoughts on the Project page here if you're interested. Regards, Pawnkingthree (talk) 13:35, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

OK, I'll start a Yūshō article then (should use the macrons I guess). Cheers, Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:56, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Made a start. I rather enjoyed that! I think that's my first ever sumo article that wasn't a biography... Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:23, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Red retired box

If you're up for doing a bit of slightly tedious tinkering... prompted by the GA Review of Takanohana, which mentioned the lack of a red "retired" box, I looked at Template:Basho and finally managed to work out how to use it for post 1958 rikishi who intai midway through a basho (and thus can't be represented by 0-0-15.) You just have to add two extra parameters "win=" and "loss=". So for a West Yokozuna who retired with 4 wins and 4 losses you would put {{basho|INTAI|rank=y|tozai=w|win=4|loss=4}}. I've been working through List of Yokozuna but of course there's also List of past sumo wrestlers. It can be used for rikishi who retire outside of makuuchi, too: you can put "J" for Juryo and "Ma" for Makushita. If you have any time to help out that would be great.Pawnkingthree (talk) 12:59, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I didn't know you were a teacher actually! My wife's currently training to be a teacher, in fact she's gone back to the US to enroll and I'm hoping to join her over there as soon as I can. Don't worry about updates, they'll get done eventually. Cheers, Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:46, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Asashoryu July 2008 injury

Should we really assume that he is out for the whole tournament? Wrestlers frequently pull out early and attempt to return in the second week. I believe we should hold off on declaring the yokozuna absent. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 00:45, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Jumped gun

Thanks for the update. Kaio keeps on setting the records doesn't he? 36 tomorrow... I was at the article myself today actually, as Tosanoumi's moved into the Top 10 of most makuuchi bouts fought. I thought that was quite a smart move on your part with Asashoryu, actually:) I've seen Feitclub around; maybe he/she will be able to help with some updates. Enjoy your vacation! Regards, Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Updates

Hi, I'm not taking a break as such but I've just moved to the US and my internet access is likely to be more limited, at least for a while. If you want to leave me some updates I'll probably get round to it in a few days. Up to you. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Vernon Township, New Jersey, where my wife comes from. I've visited a few times before but it's quite a different place to London! I'll have to learn to drive, for one thing... --Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:11, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, been offline for a few days so just catching up with all the results. Hakuho strolls to another championship, eh? But at least Ama made things interesting with his great 12-3. Thanks for all your updates. Have you done them all yourself? Great pictures too. I never thought we'd get to the stage where virtually all our active wrestler articles have photos. I'll look forward to seeing more pics as we create more articles -- I did Tochinoshin a few days ago as he's now crossed the three makuuchi basho threshold.
I've checked and Kaio's makuuchi matches total of 1226 is indeed 13 less than adding together his 757 wins and 482 losses: that's because he's had 13 losses by default. The total only includes matches he turned up for, which I think is appropriate. I got all the data from the same source, Sumo Reference, so it's the same for everyone else in the table. I'll put in an explanatory note. Cheers, --Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:16, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for all the banzuke updates - you were quick off the mark there.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:54, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Re:!

I noticed the Japanese Takanohana article had your tourney table when I was doing research for the Takanohana GA nomination but I didn't realise it had spread to so many others! That's great -- they're much better than the old ones. And I noticed recently that the pictures you uploaded in May have been moved to the Wikipedia Commons so all wikis can use them -- I expect they'll start appearing in other languages too now! I was surprised at the almost complete lack of images on the Japanese sumo articles as, ironically, I'd been hoping that they could provide a source for us! Pleased to see it in fact turned out to be the other way round. Well done! :)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:14, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Interesting. I think that may be one of te reasons why "Sumopedia" has flopped -- there are very knowledgable sumo fans out there but they don't want to give their work away and not have their name attached to it. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:43, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Sumo

How is the sumo project going on Wikipedia. I finished school so I probably have more time to edit somethings now, if any help is needed? XinJeisan (talk) 18:47, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

That's great you can go to the sumo anytime. I can't believe I haven't been to a tournament in over 2 years. I thought I just noticed that the JSA is now streaming basho live on the internet. Anyways, I'll look through the list and see what I can do. I just created an invite template. I saw some articles that just didn't look right, but with different people updating them. So, it might be good to use that to get more people involved. With all the outside stuff going on in sumo, how's the atmosphere at the actual events these days?

XinJeisan (talk) 21:10, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

2008 hatsu banzuke updates

No worries -- you did all the post November updates so it only seemed fair, and I just felt like doing it. Your trip sounds great fun. I've seen Rhode Island, Philadelphia and New York outside of NJ but haven't ventured any further than that yet! See you after the basho. I hope Kaio can pull it off yet again...--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your photo uploads and the links to the Japanese articles. I didn't even realise Kimurayama had made it to three makuuchi basho already -- he was off my radar. As for the basho, Kaio's made it so I'm happy. Seen any live action? I'm looking forward to the Asa-Hakuho showdown of course. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:15, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Hope your friend enjoyed the sumo. It's just Homasho who's still proving elusive photo-wise, isn't it? Maybe in May! Very glad Harumafuji made his eight. First ozeki basho nerves I guess. At least he won't have to go back to being Ama now. I saw the anon IP's contributions; he's certainly enthusiastic but he did go a bit overboard with Toyonoshima's injury in Kaio's article-- thanks for cutting that back. Good to have XinJeisan around too -- I see he started Yamamotoyama. Thanks for your post-basho updates; I'm doing what I can as well. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:26, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Ah, I guess I beat you to it! Incidentally thanks for that Onokuni pic-- especially pleasing to see an long retired wrestler with an up-to-date image. I'll have a a think about how to represent playoffs-- my intial feeling is another colour.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Tourney playoffs

No objections. It is time-consuming, and I wouldn't have volunteered myself, but as you say that kind of thing is up your street so be my guest! I'll have a look and see if there are any you've missed. In a ideal world we would just tweak the tournament record template but I weouldn't really know where to begin and as Csernica seems to have disappeared forever, I'm reluctant to mess around with a template that's used in hundreds of articles.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 18:08, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

I do have a habit of leaping in, don't I?! I think the playoff system goes back to the 40s, so there's still a fair few to do. I remember a few unusual playoffs before '96 -- there was one with Konishiki, Hokutoumi and Kirishima in 1990, which was the first in 25 years to involve more than two wrestlers. But the best must be that crazy FIVE way playoff (with all of them on 11-4!) won by Musashimaru in 1996. Would we record that one as 11-4PPPP, as there were four playoff bouts in total?--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

A hold is a kind of a draw (basically what they declared the before the rematch was invented) so it's nothing to do with a playoff. I can't believe Wakakirin would be so stupid. I logged just now, checked my watchlist, saw that someone had changed the first line of his entry to "was a sumo wrestler" and my first thought was that he'd been run over by a bus or something. After he was one of the ones who allegedly failed the dope test, too. I guess he thought he could get away with it. He was one of the rikishi I admired, making it to makuuchi after all his injury problems. What a waste.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:13, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Just looking at the playoffs; it's interesting (to me) that Chiyonofuji won all six he took part in, whereas Musashimary lost six of his seven (his only success being that five way one!). Also, Kitanoumi lost his first four before finally winning one. That's the kind of trivia I love:) I might try and work something into the Yusho article, where playoffs are discussed (it would probably be going too far to mention them in the individual bios, I think).--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:52, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I picked that up from Sumo Fan Magazine (don't know if you read it, but it's excellent) and it surprised me. I always admired Wakanoyama for getting back to the top division after so long away. But yeah, a very hairy back :)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 03:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Updating

Thanks for your banzuke updates: my computer access is a bit on and off these days so much appreciated. You may also want to check out the WP Sumo discussion on what to do with the Kokugikan article. Regards, --Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:43, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

The tourney tables look much tidier now the playoff is in the template itself-- thanks for that. I guess it wasn't as difficult as we thought! I remember being quite pleased with myself when I worked out how to do the red retired box:) Thanks for your improevments to the Yusho article too. For my next project I'm thinking of starting a series of year reviews ie 2008 in sumo and so on. When I have the time! I'll probably bring it up on the Project page before I start.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 02:10, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Well I'm also a member of the chess Wikiproject and they have 2008 in chess and several other similar articles; I'm sure other sports do too, English soccer seasons and so on. I was thinking of a review of each tournament, plus other notable events off the dohyo. Plenty to write about for last year of course with all the scandals, resignations and dismissals.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:09, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm glad I didn't spoil your updating! We were celebrating my wife's birthday today so I thought I should leave it to you:) You saw some good bouts on Day 14: I've been catching up online and Kotooshu's dismantling of Asashoryu looked very impressive. And Goeido had a good tournament too: no doubt the Osaka boy got plenty of home support. Interesting you talk about the different atmosphere from Tokyo: I was reading about Kyushu tournament and even though the audiences are smaller there they're very knowledgeable and cheer on even the juryo wrestlers enthusiastically. Let me know if you ever make it all the way down there! On the past wrestlers table, I have to say my initial reaction was that I didn't like it so much because it is rather a lot of info to absorb and breaking down into different decades as we did made it easier to read (and edit!). On the other hand, I do like that you can sort the wrestlers alphabetically if you're not sure what era they were from. On balance, I think I preferred it how it was before. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 03:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Well I was unavailable once again (wedding in Maine this time) so thanks for the updating as always. Just catching up with all the results now: seems like I missed an exciting end. Great to see all the new pics uploaded by Archimboldo too--Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:10, 25 May 2009 (UTC).

Heya

Still planning on a "year in sumo"article, but I was reading about heya recently and just got the urge to tackle that list today. I was thinking about adding a "notable past wrestlers" column, or maybe a "other coaches" one -- of course, some ex-rikishi could appear in both those columns. I would like to do more on closed heya, as some like Oshiogawa have had a few prominent rikishi in recent years and others like Ikazuchi are historically significant even though they've been defunct for decades. I might just create individual articles rather than do another list. I was also thinking of redirecting some of the more stubby heya articles to List of sumo beya as they don't really contain any info that couldn't go in those columns. Good idea or not? I came across the sortable table at List of chess grandmasters and just copied it from there. Not sure how new it is but as you say it's rather useful. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Sansho

I've added a couple of lines and also linked to our "sumo records" article and the Sumo Reference complete list of winners. I think it's fine to have a separate section on the clean sweeps; I love that kind of trivia:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:56, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Active wrestlers

I like it! I think it's important with "List" articles that they're not just a list of names, as that would mean the article could just be deleted and replaced by categories. Funny, I was wondering how we could sort by rank and you've found a way - I like the fact that it's the default sort. It will mean a bit more work, as we'll have to put the exact maegashira ranks in instead of just listing them alphabetically as we do now, but not too much. I agree that "highest rank" is probably not needed ("current rank" will do) but I think "Career notes" is useful and worth keeping (it's a good part of the past wrestlers article as well). Nice job!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:36, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry not much time to comment but I like the new article. I'll try to help out with the career notes.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:58, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Heh, I guess I wasn't needed:) Looking great. I like the addition of a heya column. I think we should put that into the past wrestlers article too. I see you've removed the "current rank" column for now. I"m in two minds about it myself. It's useful info but it may over-complicate the table. It would be nice to get some input from other editors; we'll see if anyone commments on the talk page I guess. No probs with an alphabetical sort: as the article introduction says, it's easy to sort by rank if one wishes too.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:57, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Would a place of birth column be overkill do you think? I was thinking of noting the prefecture for the Japanese rikishi and the country for the foreigners. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:05, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

You make a good point with the highest rank - putting it in the career notes column is the perfect place for it. Thanks for starting the heya column in past wrestlers.

Yeah, most of the heya articles do need a bit of work. I'm aware that quite a few modern stables have been stables before -- but often decades or even centuries earlier, and with no real connection between them. They may even deserve separate articles -- not that there are the sources in English for me to be able to write much about them. I did have another book which had some useful info but it's at my father's house in England at the moment so not really accessible!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:40, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Apparantly there was a pre-WWWII Sadogatake stable but it had no connection to the one we know today (which was set up by a wrestler called Kotonishiki, hence all the Koto shikona). I think the Sumo Forum might be the best bet. I'll search through the archives and maybe start a new thread.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:54, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

That bit about Kitazakura in Kakuryu was misleading actually as Kakuryu in fact debuted higher than Kitazakura did. I've altered it.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Is up and running. Let me know what you think. There aren't any pages that link to it yet - do you think we should add it to the "see also" sections of Sumo, List of sumo tournament winners and so on? Or have a link in the career section of the wrestlers referred to?--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:05, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I was interrupted!:) I've added November now, and some images. I'm sure there's more I can put in -- I've got nothing for the month of June for example. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I've thought of something for June -there was an exhibition tournament in LA I think.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:16, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Putting a link in the tourney tables is a great idea; I hadn't thought of that. I might also create a template once we have a few more articles.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 23:14, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

I do envisage having many "year" articles eventually, so feel free to start any you like - no pressure though! I will probably go back through the 2000s for a bit, and then maybe skip to the late 80s/early 90s as those years are special for me as that's when I first discovered sumo. I did have a look at the tourney table template -- I had hoped it might be something as simple as altering a wikilink -- but I couldn't see a solution either.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:02, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

I've started 2009 in sumo and done 2007 in sumo (although I'm sure more can be added to that one).--Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:16, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey, well done for figuring that tourney table out. I don't think there's anything wrong with red links (it will encourage people to create articles), but is there a way to make it read eg. "2008" in the tables but still link to "2008 in sumo"? I think that would look a lot neater. Thanks for starting the 2004-06 articles. Nothing wrong with stubs at all in my opinion.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:35, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

I can live with that, although myself I think the red links draw enough attention. But hey, we can't agree on everything:) I've also been trying to pad out the lead sections of the bios a bit, as some of them are only two sentences which is too short - they need a least a paragraph I reckon. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:11, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

You know I was thinking of how to bring the different "years in sumo" articles together and was considering a template, but your list works just as well. The title seesm fine too. And yes, I think we should put it in the "see also" section of the individual articles. Maybe some others where I've linked the individual years too, like the main sumo article. (Yeah, they say "gotten" here. I'm getting used to the lingo. My wife teased me today for pronouncing "water the American way instead of the British way - I'm losing my accent!)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 01:03, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Manky is a great word. Malarkey too (although it means something quite different). Oh and I'm looking forward to the basho too. If you go, don't forget to bring your camera and try and get a snap of the elusive Homasho!:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:39, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Re:new pics to use

Yes I was very excited by those new pics and couldn't wait to use them! I'm trying not to replace any of yours, though, and just put them in the main body of text. It looks better the more text there is of course, but that'll just be an incentive for me to write some more!:) Thanks for uploading the Kirinowaka (is he a relative of Wakakirin?!), Shirinonami and Waktenro pics. There are still a couple more that would be nice to get, eg Kiyoseumi, Tamaasuka, but all in good time. I really thought Kaio might overtake Kitanoumi in the most career wins table this time, but then he had to go from 8-2 to 8-7!:) I'm convinced he will eventually end up in the top spot in most makuuchi basho and probably most makuuchi wins too. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:04, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:Full tables

I hadn't noticed that actually. I'm not convinced it's really necessary (or even that interesting) to know every score right from the lower divisions. People have the Sumo Reference site if they want that amount of detail. Plus it would be time-consuming, even if we did copy the ja wiki tables. I leave the job up to others!:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Re:current rank

Hello again. I would have no objection - the infobox was designed a long time before we had the tourney tables so it's not surprising that there is some redundant info. I agree we should keep it for juryo and below though. One thought; we may not even have to put "see below" as its not a mandatory field - we could just leave it blank as we do for retired rikishi. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:57, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Fine. not saying "see below" is a bad idea, BTW, just thuught it might save a bit of work to leave it out.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:32, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Re:Updates

I'm very sorry to hear that; my condolences. No need to worry about the updates, needless to say - I'll take care of them. Glad you saw a bit of the basho, as it seemed to be a very exciting one. Take care.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: more years in sumo

Hi there. Good to hear from you again :) Glad you're enjoying the articles. I get to them when I can. They're not too hard to write actually; the only problem is that now that I'm entering the pre-internet age it's a bit harder to track down extra info, especially stuff between tournaments. I do know the late 80s fairly well though, so I'm looking forward to getting to them. On Taka's championships, I believe the seven he won before finally getting promoted was the most ever. I think he used to be called the "Tokyo Yokozuna" because back then he just couldn't win outside of the Kokugikan. Seems funny now. Agree with you that Kotooshu looks genki. Kotomitsuki's not looking too shabby either.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:08, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Gah! Oshu was looking so good; then he gets fooled by Kaio's little sidestep and kotenage, and then he gets slapped down in a second by Baruto. I guess it's good for sumo that Asashoryu is back on form though. Oh, and I've done 1994 in sumo now:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:02, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Images

Keep 'em coming! Very exciting. That one of Mainoumi is particularly good.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:46, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey, the sumo divisions article looks a lot better now. Nice one. Those makushita guys are both HUGE! Any idea who they are?--Pawnkingthree (talk) 22:55, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:Basho updates

That's a very interesting fact about Hakuho that you found - I'm sure it's true but it would be nice to have a cite (as he's one of our more high profile articles). I saw the two Hakuho- Asa matches on Youtube without knowing the result - a great playoff bout and a fantastic performance by Asa. Thanks for doing all the updates - I haven't been about for most of the day. I'll do some more tidying up and add a few bits to the bios as I come across them. I'm glad people are reading the records article. It's funny, I never even thought of creating it until someone suggested it on the WP:SUMO page - it seems so obvious now. And I love updating it!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:31, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:More dinking

I always liked that List of active sumo wrestlers had the makuuchi, juryo, and makushita divisions in separate sections - easier on the eye - so to have that and still have the sortable tables would be ideal I think. I like it. On the linking "see here" in the infoboxes, I don't have a problem with it; as you say it would probably increase readership of the article (although I still think it might be an idea just to omit the Current Rank field altogether - you may notice I've done that with the articles I've recently created on Shotenro and Takanoyama).

As for adminship, I'm thinking of accepting Sjakkelle's offer to nominate me. It would mean extra work I guess but I'm no here a lot anyway and there's always a need for new admins to help out. I 'm going to do my homework first though and read all the stuff on Adminship so I know what I'm letting myself in for:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 01:16, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Re:cats

You're welcome:) Also I don't know if you've come across the Professional sumo page at the Commons - it's a very handy one and I've been adding your images to it.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:58, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Kinboshi change

I don't think you need to change all the individual bios manually; you've already changed the infobox template so it will come through automatically I would have thought. Maybe the system is just being a bit slow or something?--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:08, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Actually it looks like you do, because "goldstars" is now not recognised so nothing is showing up on the bios. My mistake. I think you could change {{{kinboshi}}} back to {{{goldstars}}} on the template and the wikilink would still appear as Kinboshi to the reader as the pipe link has been removed. But I'll leave it up to you:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:40, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Glad your tinkering wasn't wasted:)

Odd that the JSA would use the Japanese for kinboshi and the English for sansho - doesn't make much sense. Like I said, I think we should be consistent.

I see you have an interest in Game of Thrones - me too, although I've only read the first two.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 23:39, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I know - we have the books and I need to finish them, but I have so many other things on the go - Neil Gaiman's Sandman series for one. But I did enjoy them. It's funny, one of my friends is very impatient for the new book and is getting more and more frustrated by Martin's blog postings where he says "sorry, got writer's block"...--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:04, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
My wife is a huge Gaiman fan - she got me into them and she's itching for me to finish the series. I've never really read any "serious" comic books before - I would read Transformers and the like - but I'm really enjoying them. And of course he's fellow Brit now in the States:)--Pawnkingthree (talk) 23:57, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Re:Br

I have Windows and I checked in both Firefox and IE 8 and it looks fine. But I see you've added breaks to the tourney table template so maybe it's just that I'm seeing!--Pawnkingthree (talk) 12:54, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Record holders

No reason for not doing sekiwake and komusubi - I just hadn't got round to it! Go right ahead. I would suggest using Sumo Reference as a source. The queries you need are here and here. I wonder if it might be interesting to combine the two results (ie. puttin "s-k" in the rank field of the query) and have a "most tournaments in junior sanyaku" as well. I saw the anon IP edits; like you I didn't know what he was up to at first. Not sure if it's correct to have a disambig page for two articles when only one actually exists at the moment, but I'll let it go...--Pawnkingthree (talk) 19:26, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I would disregard those two historical rikishi and just keep it to the modern era - I don't think they're comparable. I wouldn't worry about "consecutive" tables. My notes in the ozeki table weren't meant to imply that - ozeki runs tend to be consecutive anyway (although I know Takanonami did come back for a couple of tournaments, I didn't think that was worth indicating) - I just thought it would be interesting to note why the run ended. Also, you omitted Kaio's last junior sanyaku ranking (July 2000 I believe) and Kotonishiki needs to be unbolded as he's retired.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:25, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

I thought as you did Kotomitsuki you had just missed it. I don't think either of them will fight at sekiwake again anyway.Pawnkingthree (talk) 00:54, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I was thinking it might be worth adding a bit more text to the article, as it is a bit bare (though I know it is primarily a list of stats). The intro in particular could be longer. So i wouldn't be opposed to adding some explanatory stuff. I've just been playing around with subsections and placing the tables side by side - feel free to revert if you don't like the look of it.Pawnkingthree (talk) 20:28, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Wind power in Oregon‎

Where did you find that Oregon's wind power is now ranked #5? —EncMstr (talk) 00:16, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I've added it to the article.

Mokonami

Just noticed this - should check your contributions more regularly:) That's a great article - so much more info than I could come up with. --Pawnkingthree (talk) 15:03, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi, yes I'm in the UK - trying to fit in seeing as man y friends and relatives as we can! Would have no objection to removing tables for some of the one-hit-wonders - the tables were obviously designed for those with multiple basho in the top division and it does look kind of silly to have all that grey after a solitary entry. Hope you had a great Xmas and have a Happy New Year.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 11:50, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
