- Hi there. Hope you find us welcoming. The talk pages are great places to get second opinions or find people with a particular expertise. Please feel free to add to the project pages or help with our collaborations! Tim Vickers 20:09, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

avoiding duplications in the ref list
[edit]Hi Forluvoft, I saw that you have edited the Foxp2 site a bunch of times. I am not an experienced editor and updated the site a bit today but when adding references (just following the conventions in the body text of the edited paragraphs) I realized that each citation is just added to the bottom of the reference lists, regardelss of whether it"s in the list already or not. Is there a way to fix that? I rummaged around the help and edit sites for a while but couldn"t find the answer. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by R553H (talk • contribs) 14:20, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
- I responded on your page. Forluvoft 15:18, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
TBP
[edit]Dammit, you're right. :) Tim Vickers 15:34, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I can't find a page on TBP-associated factors, is there another abbreviation for TAFs I haven't come across? Tim Vickers 15:49, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not that I know of. I haven't run across a Wikipedia article dedicated to them either, but I don't know if they are really notable in themselves. Maybe they can be elaborated on in the TFIID article. I'm sure they at least have names! Forluvoft 15:55, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've made the TAF page a redirect to Transcription Factor II D. Tim Vickers 16:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I was doing this as part of the ProteinBoxBot project, would you be interested in helping? Wikipedia:WikiProject_Molecular_and_Cellular_Biology/Help#Adopting_a_gene_page. Tim Vickers 17:00, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I could try chipping away at a few on the weekends. :) Forluvoft 17:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- That would be great! I tend to get a bit lost with all these abbreviations. :) Tim Vickers 17:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- FYI I just merged MECP2 and MeCP2 when I added the protein box, didn't seem much point in having both pages. Hope that's OK, I can revert it if you think the genes and proteins should have separate pages. Tim Vickers 18:48, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good. For some reason I had never found the MECP2 article. Forluvoft 23:06, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for claiming a group of gene pages from the ProteinBoxBot. Let me know if you have any problems/suggestions/questions! For the sake of having a central place, why don't we put any PBB-specific issues over at User_talk:ProteinBoxBot/Volunteer? Tim looks like he's gotten the hang of things so hopefully he can chime in too... Cheers, AndrewGNF 04:50, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good! Forluvoft 04:51, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Quick question. Did you mean to leave off the "Further reading" section on CD14? Typically I only do that if there is already an extensive set of links under "References" or "Further reading". But, of course, you have free reign to integrate PBB content however you think it best fits with the existing content, so no need to do it exactly how I do it! (If you do choose to leave off the summary and/or references, changing the PBB_Controls parameters at the top would be nice, though not necessary. On the next update, PBB will just log a warning when it tries to update something that doesn't exist.) Great job so far! Cheers, AndrewGNF 23:41, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll go back and make sure I put most of them in. By the way, there's probably no way to add (permanent) internal Wiki links to the summaries, is there? Forluvoft 00:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean by "permanent internal wikilinks". Can you explain further? AndrewGNF 04:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh, you mean if one adds wikilinks to a PBB_Summary section, not to have PBB overwrite those wikilinks on update? If so, yeah, it's something we hadn't anticipated until it actually happened. In theory, I can see how one could record all the wikicode prior to doing the summary update, and then adding that wikicode back in. Technically, I think though it would be challenging to work out all the bugs. Not something I want to add to JonSDSUGrad's plate right before he's trying to finish his master's thesis... ;) AndrewGNF 04:43, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I totally understand. ;) Forluvoft 05:33, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Admin?
[edit]Hi there, do you want me to nominate you as an admin? The tools are quite useful and I don't think you would have any trouble in being approved. Tim Vickers 02:20, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm very flattered, but I don't feel that I'm ready to be an admin yet. But thanks for the offer! :) Forluvoft 05:07, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Some useful experience would be AfD discussions, perhaps add Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Science to your watchlist? Tim Vickers 17:37, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice. I'll do that! Forluvoft 20:21, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
PBB instruction revisions?
[edit]When/if you have a chance, please see User_talk:ProteinBoxBot/Volunteer#any_instruction_revisions.3F. Thanks! AndrewGNF 20:27, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
MCB
[edit]Hi there, I noticed you removed yourself from the list of participants, was this in response to any problem I could help with? Tim Vickers (talk) 02:53, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, but thanks a lot for asking. Forluvoft (talk) 17:09, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
OK then, just thought I'd ask. :) Tim Vickers (talk) 20:19, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Ahh
[edit]I have nominated Ahh, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahh. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. ukexpat (talk) 00:31, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
