Jenny Lam
[edit]Firstly, read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS and WP:WAX — "but this other person who seems equivalent has an article" is not in and of itself a reason why your topic automatically gets to have one too. There is literally nothing to stop anybody from at least trying to start an article about any topic at any time, so the fact that somebody started an article about Alison Collins, six months after an article about Jenny Lam was deleted, is not in and of itself a thing you're entitled to clap back at me over. The Alison Collins article was created in March 2021, and did not exist in September 2020, so it was simply not my responsibility to have compared Jenny Lam to an article that did not exist to be compared to at that time.
Secondly, if you don't see that there's a potential difference in notability between a school board member who only cites six hits of exclusively local coverage, something which every member of every school board on the planet always has, and a school board member who cites 40 hits of coverage including some nationalizing sources demonstrating that she's gotten coverage all the way on the other side of the country, then the problem has far more to do with your understanding of what Wikipedia is for than with us.
School board is a local political office, which is not considered "inherently" notable under WP:NPOL #2. Making a school board member notable enough for inclusion here is not simply a matter of showing just enough local press coverage from her local area to demonstrate that she exists, but requires you to show a credible reason why this school board member could be seen as a special case of significantly more notability than most other school board members. Whether you agree that she actually got there or not, the Alison Collins article is at least claiming that she would clear that high bar, while the Jenny Lam article never even tried. So if you feel strongly about it, you're more than welcome to try listing Alison Collins for deletion — but the fact that somebody started an article about her six months after an article about Jenny Lam was deleted is not a thing I have a responsibility to apologize for, because the Alison Collins article did not exist last September.
