Thank you for your contributions to women's football/soccer articles. I thought I'd let you know about the Women's Football/Soccer Task Force (WP:WOSO), a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia's coverage of women's football/soccer. If you would like to participate, join by visiting the Members page. Thanks! CNC (talk) 14:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Refactoring your talk page

[edit]

Hi there, I noticed you performed a non-conventional refactoring of your talk page. For your references, please see WP:REFACTOR for the typical ways to perform a refactor of your talk page. You can also learn about automated tools to archive talk messages as well. TiggerJay(talk) 19:28, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Is it not the norm to move the page to "archive x" and start a fresh? Footballnerd2007talk15:43, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can find details over at WP:AATP. However, generally one does not move their entire page, and then replace with a blank one, but rather systematically (or automatically) move older (or closed discussions) over to an archive page either through manual or semi-automated methods, a full section at a time. You're also welcome to just delete entire sections for various reasons, see WP:REFACTOR -- for example blatant vandalism, personal attacks, etc. But generally warning notices placed on your page should be kept, not simply removed -- however that is simply a standard practice and not required. In general it's not a good idea to put your DOB on Wikipedia (you put it on your userpage), but it's even worse for minors to do so. I suggest you remove it.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:33, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I saw others had done so. It will still be in the edit history whatever I do won't it? Footballnerd2007talk16:44, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just because others do it doesn't mean it's a good idea. It would still be in the history, but it can be rev/deleted, or even suppressed, if you wish. Anyway, there's nothing "wrong" with having it; if it doesn't bother you, that's fine.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:53, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed it, is it safe to keep it in edit history? Footballnerd2007talk18:36, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. It's unlikely anyone will ever notice it. I just think that personal identifying information, e.g., DOB, SSN, can be used in illegal ways. For example, it's not a problem if you say just the year you were born in. As I said before, it's up to you. If you want me to rev/delete it, I can. In that way only admins would be able to see it. If you want an even smaller group, you can request suppression at WP:OS.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:53, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd appreciate to if you could do that. For security reasons could you remove this discussion please? Footballnerd2007talk19:19, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I'm not sure what you mean by "remove". If you mean just a normal delete of the discussion, you can do that. If you mean, you want me to rev/delete this, too, I don't think that's necessary as the information we were discussing is gone now, so any non-admin who sees this discussion, won't be able to access it anyway.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:31, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for your help! You did reference that I was a minor so I'll remove it. Footballnerd2007talk19:46, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
