Unnecessary moves
[edit]Hi, I see you've moved a number of Ottoman proper name titles. These moves are unnecessary.See WP Foreign name anglicization. If there are too few reliable English-language sources to constitute an established usage, follow the conventions of the language appropriate to the subject. Move to Sheikh ul-Islam
[edit]Hi, Fongtzack. What makes you think that the form "ul-Islam" reflects usage in English? In English the Arabic definite article is generally rendered as "al-" and the "ul-" form isn't used in the cited sources for that article. Eperoton (talk) 02:32, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Eperoton: I can move it to Sheikh al-Islam, if you want. But I saw both in English-language-books and the List of Sheikh-ul-Islams of the Ottoman Empire that Sheikh-ul-Islam with u is most commonly used.--Fongtzack (talk) 11:48, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's because the u reflects the Ottoman Turkish spelling. When discussing the subject in general, encyclopedias and other sources follow the original Arabic spelling. I don't have a strong opinion about the spelling of sheikh, but we should restore the al-. Thanks! Eperoton (talk) 02:33, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
- P.S. My phrasing was a bit sloppy here. I was referring to transliteration conventions for the two languages. Eperoton (talk) 02:51, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
Undiscussed moves against consensus
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Series of unilateral move provocations without any discussion or consensus. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 16:31, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Sockpuppet investigation
[edit]An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aleksandër I Madh Është Shqipëtar, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
