Warning messages
[edit]Hi there - regarding your edit to User talk:97.84.219.124...users are allowed to blank warnings from their own talk pages (although archiving is preferred) - it's at least an acknowledgement that they have read the warning concerned. Guidelines are here. Thanks! Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 21:42, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think WP:IAR applies in this instance (not least because you weren't ignoring a rule that was preventing you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia. The fact that they went on to vandalise again (and were subsequently blocked) doesn't mean that you were right at that time to reinstate the warning. Instead of ignoring all rules, you should have been assuming good faith to the extent that they had read the message and had removed it from their talk page. It's not for you to reinsert that warning - the guidelines are clear on that. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs)
- Thanks for your second message - as I pointed out above, you were failing to assume good faith. That they are subsequently blocked doesn't retrospectively justify your actions... Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 21:51, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- We're clearly going to have to agree to differ on this. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 21:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Users, not IPs :). Snowolf How can I help? 22:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

- No, nothing has changed, of course. It was a mistake on my part. I've reverted my block and presented my apologies to the user. Happy editing, Snowolf How can I help? 22:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
NetZero
[edit]Just checking, you tagged this article with the {{weaselwords}} tag; but I don't see much in the way of weasel words in it. I would agree that the {{npov}} tag may be appropriate ... there's criticism out there about the company, if someone would take the time to find a WP:RS documenting it, then it should be worked into the article. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 04:34, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
IP talk pages
[edit]Believe it or not, IPs are allowed free reign to do with their talk page as they please. The only thing they aren't allowed to blank is shared IP warnings, sockpuppet notices or reviewed unblock templates. It's probably best just to let them loose on their talk page. Hopefully it tires them out of Wikipediaing. –xeno (talk) 04:41, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, I used to think it was a bad idea too, but people swayed me into realizing it doesn't make that much of a difference. As long as they aren't abusing the helpme and unblock templates, no real harm done. –xeno (talk) 12:22, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
