Edit Summaries

Can someone please tell me how to do this on the edit summaries, eg. (-->Minor Characters), where the arrow links to the section that was edited?

Please help me!!! Anyone?

Sorry, I don't know either, but nobody's going to notice this if you put it here. Try the Wikipedia:Help_desk. --Migs 03:49, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
Oh, I think it's automatic, if you don't place any edit summaries, and you edited only one section. But that's just a guess. --Migs 03:52, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Let's see if this works... clicking the edit button on the right-hand side instead of the 'edit this page' on the top... --FlyingPenguins 03:57, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

It works! It was so obvious, yet I never noticed that 'edit' button on the right side... thanks for responding so fast! --FlyingPenguins 04:03, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

WikiProject Vancouver and the GVRD

To all WikiProject Vancouver participants: A question has been raised in the WikiProject discussion about whether the entire GVRD should be covered by WP Vancouver. I'd love to hear your input on this on the discussion page because I think it is a possibility despite the amount of workload involved.

Also, don't forget that there is a Yahoo Group for WP Vancouver [1] if you want to be involved in a possible Vancouver meetup. Thanks. :) --Buchanan-Hermit™..CONTRIBS..SPEAK!. 21:57, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

LEP disambiguation

LEP is the common name for Large Electron-Positron Collider, which is rather major physics experiment, so I think LEP should remain a redirect as it was. I think it's be better to move the current LEP to LEP (disambiguation) and put a "LEP redirects here. For other meanings see LEP (disambiguation)" message at the top of the collider page. Is that ok with you? -- SCZenz 02:57, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Well, alright, it's okay with me. I never knew I would get such quick feedback on this change though. --FlyingPenguins 03:09, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Ok, cool, all done. As for the speed, I guess you happened to do it just as I was about to check my watchlist... ;) -- SCZenz 03:27, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Nice to see other people using {{Infobox Education in Canada}}! Great job starting Windermere Secondary School. I updated a few more fields for you. One good source of basic facts (school number, enrolment figures, etc...) for BC schools is http://www.achievebc.ca/spt/searchform.html. --Stephane Charette 04:55, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for helping, as well as the link! I will use it in the future. --FlyingPenguins 07:10, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
By the way, what is the real name of this school? --Stephane Charette 17:49, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Hiya. Many thanks for uploading this image.

I'm following up the statement "In late 2004, Newgrounds removed it." that someone added. I can't find the page this picture was taken from. Do you have the address of that page please?

If the Zango page is not there anymore, do you have a record of when the screenshot was taken please? --Billpg 21:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, I cannot remember where I took the screenshot, nor can I find any evidence of such screens anymore upon a search on Newgrounds right now. However, I do remember that it was taken the same day I uploaded it - March 12, 2006. So I guess that this screenshot is now old. --FlyingPenguins 21:22, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks. --Billpg 23:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

G'day. Noticed that you added to the Frisbee (ride) article that at the Canadian park Playland, there is a Frisbee-type ride. Can you identify which ride in the article list it is?

Actually, if you do have a bit of knowledge about the park, have a look at what I have done to the rides lists at Luna Park Sydney and Wonderland Sydney. If you can match the rides at the park to the ride types, and wikilink to the ride type article if there is one, I'd be much appreciative.

If you want any assistance, feel free to buzz me my talk page. Thanks in advance! -- saberwyn 00:12, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I added the Frisbee ride name (Crazy Beach Party), and fixed park ride info at the Playland article. Thanks for commenting. --FlyingPenguins 00:40, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
No worries. Thanks for contributing! -- saberwyn 01:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Nah, I was bored, so I did it. Thanks for asking. The new image won't load yet though, so be patient; I've cleared my cache several times and refreshed. --FlyingPenguins 18:44, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Re: Bby Neighbourhoods

Hi, the Burnaby Neighbourhoods template is at Template:BurnabyNeighbourhoods, if that's what you were asking for. To edit it, just make your changes between '|style="font-size:80%; text-align:left; margin-right:5px;" |' and '|}<noinclude>' I guess. Hopefully I've answered your question... Orphaned fair use image (Image:RCT2 wackyworlds china.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:RCT2 wackyworlds china.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This is an automated message from BJBot 01:19, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello FlyingPenguins, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Christmas tree-7534301.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:FlyingPenguins. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 11:03, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi there, just to let you know that WP:ROCO has been given an overhaul. As you are listed as a participant, I just thought I'd let you know that there's a new to-do section and much clearer guidelines for roller coaster articles. Hope to see you over there! Disputed fair use rationale for Image:HallsCoughDrops.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:HallsCoughDrops.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Rcdb1.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Rcdb1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 10:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

could you please do me a favor?

Hello,

I am a master student at the Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Currently I am wrapping up my master thesis titled “Can Wikipedia be used for knowledge service?” In order to validate the knowledge evolution maps of identified users in Wikipedia, I need your help. I have generated a knowledge evolution map to denote your knowledge activities in Wikipedia according to your inputs including the creation and modification of contents in Wikipedia, and I need you to validate whether the generated knowledge evolution map matches the knowledge that you perceive you own it. Could you please do me a favor?

  1. I will send you a URL link to a webpage on which your knowledge evolution map displays. Please assign the topic (concept) in the map to a certain cluster on the map according to the relationship between the topic and clusters in your cognition, or you can assign it to ‘none of above’ if there is no suitable cluster.
  2. I will also send a questionnaire to you. The questions are related to my research topic, and I need your viewpoints about these questions.

The deadline of my thesis defense is set by the end of June, 2008. There is no much time left for me to wrap up the thesis. If you can help me, please reply this message. I will send you the URL link of the first part once I receive your response. The completion of my thesis heavily relies much on your generous help.

Sincerely
