Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Flossyarrow, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Lengthy quotes

[edit]

Hi. I reverted your addition to the Thanksgiving (United States) article because the quotation you used was too long for use in Wikipedia. Quotations in Wikipedia should be as short as possible, and only be used when the precise word choice captures meaning that can't be easily conveyed by rewriting the information in your own words. Generally, quotes should be less than a full sentence. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:05, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
