Albert Henry

[edit]

I have removed the prod tag from Albert Henry since the article appears to assert the subject's notability. Submitted to AFD for a consensus. --Ron Ritzman 07:40, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Neil deGrasse Tyson photo

[edit]

FYI, the image of Neil deGrasse Tyson that you uploaded is actually a WGBH promo photo, not originally from NASA, so I've nominated it for deletion on Commons [1]. I've found another photo which, although not quite as nice, is more reliably PD-NASA; it's Image:Neil deGrasse Tyson - NAC Nov 2005.jpg, if you wish to use it. --Davepape 14:59, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PRODs

[edit]

I have recently had to de-prod a number of articles that you have PRODded, in particular several related to India. While PRODding is an important part of the encycloaedia, I suggest that in future you limit yourself, at least to start with, to areas where you are able to make a judgment with greater clarity; other areas can be dealt with perhaps with a notability tag to start. In this respect, in particular, please do read WP:BIAS. Have fun! Hornplease 01:51, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion tagging

[edit]

Can you please explain why you tagged a number of Portal:Pornography pages for deletion? Your tagging did not make sense. --- RockMFR 01:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prods are not minor

[edit]

If you are tagging an article for proposed deletion, do not mark it as minor, as it is obviously a major issue for the future of the article. Kappa 22:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Wilhelm Reich.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wilhelm Reich.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:32, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits on the Nhat Hanh article

[edit]

I've noticed that you and Voidcore appear to be having a difference of opinion about a specific link in this article. In looking at the site that appears to be in contention, I don't see anything about it that would be discouraged by Wikipedia guidelines. I would like to ask that the two of you not change the page again until you've both discussed the issue and stated your reasons on the Talk:Nhat Hanh page. This will help us reach a consensus and help maintain good faith. Thanks! Nightngle 13:35, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Indira Jaising.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Indira Jaising.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:25, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Jack Nitzsche.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jack Nitzsche.jpg.

Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 12:41, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Roger Woolger.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Roger Woolger.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? 70.186.172.75 (talk) 20:15, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Indian occult writers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Indian occult writers has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Indian occult writers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Haidakhan Babaji.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Haidakhan Babaji.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

The file File:Charles R Drew.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
