Welcome!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Firesongponies! I am Venustas 12 and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Introduction
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- How to write a great article
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Hi Firesongponies
[edit]Just a quick hello from Wikiproject Equine and welcome! Sounds like you have a lot of interest and enthusiasm, so feel free to ask any of us for help. Montanabw(talk) 05:19, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
- To answer your various questions, I'd say that when in doubt about something, upload images to commons, and then ask on the article's talk page or at the talk page of WikiProject Equine (WPEQ). That said, if it looks to you like there's a real need (like no photo at all, or something really horribly poor), then be bold and just add the photo or make the edit, if you mess something up, someone else (like myself, the queen of anal-retentive) will just fix it or toss it or improve it -- or, miracle of miracles, leave it alone! LOL! Once in awhile we might be a little snarky, but don't take it personally, it's just seasonal affective disorder or something (I notice that wikipedia's snarkiness level goes up markedly when daylight savings time ends and calms down when it starts up again, go figure...). You can also ask any of us who are active on WPEQ, we'll be glad to explain. The quality of wikipedia articles varies widely, on the better ones where there are clearly a lot of images, footnotes, etc., (like Thoroughbred) best to ask there first before adding anything to the article itself. On the other hand, something like Araloosa, well, lots of room for improvement there! Montanabw(talk) 03:35, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
