re: Justice League

[edit]

You deleted my edit on the Justice League page and on reflection, I suppose it did come across as rather POV. However, would you be interested in helping me improve it?-Finite 01:46, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. What are you looking to add? I'm always up for a collaboration. -Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 01:55, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm interested in adding more information about how the characters are handled rather than just having them listed, A description of reoccurring plot elements and possibly some decent counter-arguements to the myriad of complaints strewn throughout the article-Finite 02:02, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that sounds good. I agree that there is too much anti-JL stuff in the article currently. Go right ahead and be bold in updating the page. It appears you haven't been officially welcomed, so I'm doing so below. Again, welcome! -Mysekurity(have you seen this?) 03:14, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Laputa

[edit]

But if it's on Disney's DVDs than that would make it the official English title. On the Japanese DVDs for "Sen and the Spiriting Away of Chihiro" the movie is called "Spirited Away" in the English subtitles. So it's not just that "LAPUTA: Castle in the Sky" is a translation of the Japanese title, it's the official English title. It's the same with other Studio Ghibli films, "Omohide Poro Poro" means "Memories Overflowing Like Tear Drops" or literally "Memories Drop Drop" but the official English title on the Japanese DVDs call it "Only Yesterday". It should at least be "Laputa: Castle in the Sky"

Most anime wikis use the Japanese names that are on the DVDs subtitles when the dub changes them, Dragon Ball for example. In Inuyasha, even though the dub, the manga, & the subtitles on the DVDs all use "Tetsusaiga" the Inuyasha page uses the correct "Tessaiga". And about the Dragon Ball movies, there are two english dubs of the movies each using different titles. I changed the page names to a translation of the Japanese title because people who live in the UK would not know FUNimation's titles and this is an English language wikipedia not a United States Wikipedia.Linkdude20002001 18:11, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Death image

[edit]

I'm certain you meant no harm on the image, (snip) when you changed it to an image of the Family Guy character, but the former page was an image of A DC comics-related anthropomorphic personification of Death that is meant to be very different from your run-of-the-mill grim reaper. The former picture was an important image on several pages concerning books the character appeared in. Would you please restore it? Finite 22:16, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would, but I has alredy been reverted. The Republican 23:32, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Anime POV tag

[edit]

Finite,

Thank you for your inquiry.

I am a former anime fan - one of those rare types. (I am also a practicing manga artist, which is a different story on to itself.) I agree, the article does seem like most of the people editing it are (current) otaku, but I do appreciate how hard you all tried to write it with a neutral POV.

I posted a response right after I posted the POV tag. You were just too quick for me.

I appreciate your concern for keeping a neutral point of view. Sayonara!

Nice work. I like the detail that you added to the "Licensing" sub-section of "Western Distribution" section; it brings the article more up to date. (^'-')^ Covington 22:47, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer to leave it on a little while longer. Some people might find other sentences they want to fix. The box just tells them that it exists and they should look out for itl. (^'-')^ Covington 23:38, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Job

[edit]

You made several helpful edits on the anime and manga pages, thank you. Finite 18:41, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was catching up on my reading, and I solved whatever I bumped into. My pleasure, just glad that I've been helpful. Shinobu 06:02, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Odd comment

The meaning of this edit of yours, "Go back where you came from Colbert-groupie," is obscure. Please rephrase it more clearly and thus more helpfully. Thank you. -- Hoary 01:19, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's fine now. Thanks! -- Hoary 01:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

on pedophilia treatment

[edit]

A lot of people do know the difference between a pedophile and a child molester. Well, I do at least. My hypothesis was that a non-offending pedophile would benefit more from treatment than a court-ordered sex offender. They are more likely to be egodystonic, and prison psychologists after all, are not the same as a general therapist out in private practice. I simply lack a written source to corroborate that. It seems to me that there is usually more going one with a given individual that just the pedophilia, and sometimes dealing with those issues first is a better strategy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a common modality, but what treatment is best requires a formal evaluation. Treatment does work though, especially in the late teens and early twenties.Legitimus (talk) 12:19, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Almost forgot, seeking treatment when one has not offended should never be feared. Under patient privacy rules, this can be carried out without fear of being reported. The exception, usually, is an expressed intent to do something to a specific person.Legitimus (talk) 12:23, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The best bet is a psychiatrist (MD) or psychologist (PhD) who specialize in sexual disorders and dysfunctions. While LCSW and PNP are ok, this may requires some more expertise. The method of locating one is a matter of geography. These links are a good place to start: [1][2]. Also, most health insurance carriers have search utilities on their websites for finding mental health professionals. A person should make contact by phone, and should speak to the doctor directly when possible. Ask him or her if they have a specialty and or are knowledgeable about treating pedophilia, adding that it has never been acted on. If they don't, ask if they can refer you to a colleague who does or hang up and try the next one. Sometimes the doctor may recommend a referral after one or two sessions, as each case is different. It can be frustrating, but it does pay off.Legitimus (talk) 12:26, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
