Peer Review
[edit]Hello,
Here are my peer review notes for what is currently in your sandbox
Lead Section
Strong introduction which introduces what restorative practices are and the types of fields that they can be applied to. The sentence you added regarding zero tolerance social mediation definitely makes the lead read in favor of RP. One way to balance this might be to reference why implementing these practices can be a struggle. Would also be helpful to link zero tolerance social mediation to another Wikipedia page, if one exists, so that readers can more easily compare the two systems.
Overview
-Strengthened the criminal justice section by providing specific examples of what fully implemented RP can look like which was very much needed.
-For the education section you highlighted the benefits but not specific practices though I know you do this later on.
History/Terminology
-Understand that the urban school districts took away suspension and implemented RP instead but what specifically did the students do?
RP Experiences in Education
-Not sure if this is better as its own section or if it should be listed under the overview section just like the criminal justice, and social work examples were. I know there is already education listed under the overview though so combining it there might be a lot. Could promote users to create other "RP Experiences" sections in other fields.
-Opening sentence of this section is a little confusing, if I replace the acronym with the term the sentence would read as below and it doesn't sound grammatically correct.
There has been an accumulation of experiences restorative practices implementations in schools.
-Would also rewrite the sentence about closing the racial disciplinary gap, something like this?
One specific goal of RP , precisely, has been to close the racial disciplinary gap since students of color, especially African American children, are suspended more frequently than white students.
Balance
Again the article as a whole reads very much in favor of RP; if there are no obvious downsides to implementing RP then why are they not being used more consistently across various fields. Presumably there are some hurdles in implementing these programs and I think it would be good to mention some of those for the sake of balance. Bmccann5 (talk) 15:00, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
