E-cigs

[edit]

I just wanted to let you know that although I'm being critical of your work I do appreciate the effort you're putting into this article. It's a topic that could use more general coverage. It's just that, especially if you want to get it to FA, you're going to have to deal with people who are gonna be scrutinizing the article even more thoroughly than I am, so it'd be best to take care of these problems now :) Equazcion (talk) 06:50, 6 Nov 2009 (UTC)

Sigh, I'm probably at the worst point to try and deal with heavy criticism... I've been up 22 hours (had to take a friend to the bus station, and stayed up WAY past bed time to do so). Was hoping for a quick round of reverts and a few article touchups before bed, and find out that my 'adopted' article had most of my work over the last few days ripped out of it. Downside is, I can't find anyone who's willing to be critical to help improve it in-depth, while I'm very awake, alert, and not grumpy from being so damn tired. Also, do not think any poor typing on talk pages from me constitutes poor article writing... I hold separate standards for 'talk's and 'article's. Since I'm really too tired to continue, please, make a big long list of everything you can and put it on my talk page. I'll deal with it after sleep. I notice that at User talk:Bdwolverine87 you say:

I'm going out of my way to try and help you (including citing some sources and providing reasons to NOT delete it) since I've actually heard the band before, and think they have a cool sound. My sister in law's family is from the Kerala area.

I realise you are trying to be encouraging to a new editor, which is admirable, but even so, it is not clear to me that it is helpful to give such a new user the impression that "I like it" and "I have personal connections to it" are acceptable reasons for keeping an article. Both of these are unambiguously contrary to Wikipedia policies and guidelines. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:18, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You misunderstood my aims, and I doubt you read the information I placed on the article talk page. Its obviously a first timer, and though I have heard the band and agree they have a unique sound, the band itself has received attention in India, United States, and various countries in Europe in its decade long life. Also, they were the first of the genre to be produced and distributed from their country. These things were mentioned on the article talk page. I encouraged the author on his personal talk page, letting him know it is a good idea, but to follow the rules. I even suggested using a user space draft, and how to do that. FELYZA TALK CONTRIBS 19:24, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And no, I'm not automatically taking their side 'as a fan'. Its an interesting sound, but I'm not a big fan of metal or its subgenres. I prefer industrial, which is a subgenre of techno. (Though I have been known to throw in Beethoven. ;) ) I myself issued their 4th and final warning for removing the speedy template. FELYZA TALK CONTRIBS 19:32, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2. Editor-focused central editing dashboard
  3. "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
  4. Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
  5. Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list

Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
