Hello Fellytseng, and User:Brendapxh: welcome aboard. I made a few edits to the citations. Check out this one (and see Template:cite book and Template:cite journal. Templates are clean and consistent, and you won't have to use code for marking italics (BTW this is italicized--using double straight quotes [''this is italicized''] is easier than HTML markup). - You have probably seen this article already, but it has the citations needed (plenty in the Works Cited, including Hayashi and Lerner) to replace that citation needed tag: http://www.jstor.com/stable/43649900 . I'm still trying to get the hang of Wikipedia so I apologize in advance for any blunders and I hope I do not step on anybody's toes! Your observation about the bulk of research on this topic being Japanese is certainly true! I'm not sure if you might be interested, but I believe it has to do with the word order in the Japanese language. Verbs tend to be sentence-final, which has interesting impacts on the syntax projectability as compared to that of English. Ah, this might be too niche to be interesting after all. Anyway, please let me know if this is the right way to comment/reply (?) on talk pages. Also I do hope that I am signing off correctly! Fellytseng (talk) 17:48, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- No apology necessary--we appreciate your help. No toes have been hurt, no blunders were made. Templates make a lot of things easier--I remember trying to be all stubborn and do MLA style, and that was silly. I wonder how this applies to German, BTW, which has a similar tendency to put the verb at the end (and Dutch does to). No, it's not too niche--you should see how much coverage we have of J-pop and K-pop and anime and rasslin'.
Yes, this is the right way. (Comments about content are better placed on the article talk page.) Note that you can ping editors by typing out their user name, like this, [[User:Drmies]], but it only works if you sign your message. There are fancier way to do it; see Help:Notifications. Please tell your professor I said hi, and tell them I am envious of their hardworking students. I have no doubt y'all would pass my current class in flying colors--it's just Intro to Linguistics.
