Location Maps
[edit]On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb2007 20:12 (UTC)
Deaf-mute
[edit]Hi Felixboy. I'm seeking opinions and possible support for an issue in which I'm in a debate with other Wikipedians. I'm trying to change indiscrimant use of the term "deaf-mute" in describing deaf people in general. To see some comments related to the issue, see Talk:The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, as well as my own Talk page, User talk:Ward3001. You can also follow the links to other discussions. Right now I'm about the only person addressing the issue because deaf people are such a small minority. Other Wikipedians, with apparently no prior knowledge of the issue, are reverting my edits. If you're interesting in expressing your opinion, feel free to do so. If you wish to discuss further please leave me a message on my Talk page. Thanks. Ward3001 17:52, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Note regarding mediation
[edit]24.0.97.119 ignored the mediation request (neither agreeing nor disagreeing), yet continues to revert "deaf" to "deaf-mute". Please continue to monitor The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. If this continues, I will ask everyone's opinion about seeking formal arbitration from Wikipedia. Arbitration results in a binding decision. Thanks. Ward3001 00:42, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Jehovah's Witnesses and blood
[edit]Since you've been around for over a year, you should know that it is disruptive to make edits which turn a major assertion on its head without discussing on the Talk Page first to develop a consensus. I have reverted your edit. In the future, please discuss such edits on the Talk Page before making them.

Hmmm, I felt that claim was a little unverified, but I understand where your coming from. Thanks! Felix 16:41, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Felixboy. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Felix-canemaker.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Felixboy. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 03:44, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you so much! :)
[edit]This page in a nutshell: Felix is simply an awesome guy :) |
Dear Felix, your most kind words regarding me and my modest work made me blush, and I honestly have no words to comment them - so I guess, a simple "thank you, dear Felix!" will have to suffice! :) But that's not all, as I always consider good, kind and nice people like you a treasure when I find them, and hence, I'd like to consider this the beginning of a long friendship. Knowing that we share the ideals of kindness as means to strengthen our community and our project as result, I'd be joyed and delighted to keep in touch with you and visit you often, and my own talk page will always be ready to welcome you, whether you happen to need my help, or if you simply feel like talking. Before I go and try to get some rest, it would be in very poor form if I didn't bring you a gift in exchange to the tasty one you kindly gave me - so I'll just drop aaaalllll my load of flowers here, hoping to cheer your talk page up.... and you in the process! :) Love, Phaedriel - 08:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
when deleting attack pages
[edit]use {{db-attack}} instead of {{prod}}. Thanks for your help! ··coelacan 12:42, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Just a friendly note
[edit]Thank you for patrolling the new articles! This is just a friendly note to tell you that when you see a new page as blatantly stupid as was, feel free to mark it directly for speedy deletion. You put a prod tag on Burjina, but proposed deletions are mainly for articles that could generate controversy if they were deleted. So instead, go ahead and add a tag like {{db-spam}}, {{db-nonsense}}, {{db-attack}}, or {{db-bio}} See WP:CSD if you want more information. Keep up the good work! Bujumbura and capitals
[edit]Hi, thanks for supporting Bujumbura on WP:ACID. I noticed you comment also, and I must regret to inform you that there are in fact worse articles about capitals: St. George's, Grenada is much worse, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda is also embarrasingly short. Both are former failed ACID candidates. We also have Lobamba and Mbabane, Maseru, Praia, Porto-Novo, Moroni, Comoros (a crying shame), Victoria, Seychelles, Melekeok and surely other capitals in the Caribbean and Oceania. Here are my thoughts - now where's my penny? ;)
[edit]Dear Felix, well, first of all I thank you wholeheartedly for holding me in such high regard, tho I sincerely doubt I'm worthy of that appreciation! ;) But seriously, regarding your concern, you must ask yourself a few questions before launching a Wikiproject. Basically: is there sufficient people interested in the subject? Are there enough editors willing to take part in the project? And most important, can you benefit from an already organized parent Wikiproject? You see, organizing a Wikiproject from scratch is no minor endeavour. There are templates to create, categories to make, categorization of hundreds of articles to do, re-assessment of them within the scope of the project to perform... and I could go on. When I created Wikiproject Indigenous peoples of North America a year ago, there were far less projects than now, so it was relatively easy for me to gather interested people to work on it; yet the task was extremely daunting and immense, and I invested every minute of my free time for weeks before it could be considered a cohesive, organized Wikiproject. My humble suggestion would be to try and make a task force within the scope of a parent project at first, and after a time, see if there's enough human power and interest to go with a new Wikiproject. It will also help you gain experience before launching a more ambitious initiative. My suggestion of course! ;) If you need my help with a few pointers and ideas in the exciting work that awaits you, just let me know, k? Love, Phaedriel - 15:26, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:16, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, Felix! Thanks for the comment regarding maintenance of WP:ACID. I guess I never noticed the maintenance link before. I'll start using it as of now. Thanks for the notice. Gutworth 01:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
