Welcome!

Hello, Feedzilla, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like Feedzilla, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Laurent (talk) 21:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Feedzilla

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Feedzilla requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list. –Juliancolton | Talk 22:21, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was not promoting our site, I was just making sure it is on wikipedia as some of our competitors are. I did not use any marketing language at all but instead gave some histotical information about the company. I would appreciate if you helped me make it meet the Wikipedia criteria instead of just deleting my account. I was not trying to spam.

Decline reason:

This account can't be unblocked because it violates the username rules. Under the conflict of interest guidelines, we all agree not to write about our own organizations or web sites, so if that's the only reason you want an account, you won't need an active account at this time. If you ever becoming interested in editing Wikipedia as a personal hobby, unrelated to your own organization or web site, though, please feel free to request a change of username. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Is the username the only problem. Would the same article had been approved if it had been written by somebody else? I'm just trying to understand.

Please include a decline or accept reason.

The username is one problem. That you are apparently only here to promote your business is a more serious problem. The near-constant stream of people trying to use Wikipedia to advertise is one of the most serious problems facing Wikipedia, and if we didn't take quick, decisive action against them, Wikipedia would quickly become nothing more than an endless pile of self-promotion. But the specific article you created would have been deleted no matter who created it, because it doesn't include any indication that the organization is notable. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Feedzilla

[edit]

I have nominated Feedzilla, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Feedzilla. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Laurent (talk) 17:25, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
