Please be careful
[edit]When you add links to an article, as you recently did to 1977–78 NHL season, please make sure that the link actually takes the reader to the article about the relevant person/subject. You have added many links recently that go to disambiguation pages rather than to the article about the hockey player. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 16:50, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @R'n'B: I had been more diligent about that during this project I've undertaken, but when I realized there was an entire contingent of DAB masters, such as yourself, I decided to let them handle it and spare myself from possibly bungling it. Rest assured: If the DAB pros don't get to everything, I'll go back and clean everything up. Thanks for the work you do. Cheers. Fdssdf (talk) 02:55, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
- I realize you don't intend it this way, but that could be perceived as sounding like, "I used to be more careful about throwing my litter on the floor, but then I realized there were these nice people called janitors who come around after me and pick it up, so now I don't worry about it so much." It's particularly annoying when I find myself fixing the same links I know I've corrected earlier this week, as here. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:03, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- @R'n'B: That's a troubling way to look at it. Every Wikipedia editor has his or her specialties that they choose and focus on. I didn't speak ill of DAB specialists. I didn't even infer anything ill. If you want to think of DAB experts as janitors, that's fine, but I think they are much more important than that. The problem on my end is I don't find DABing particularly easy, but there are some, perhaps yourself, who do, and I am grateful for the work they, and you, do. As I am sure you know, you are not compelled to DAB any links I (or anyone else) insert. I will fix all the links at a later date if they remain when I go back through all the articles. Cheers.
