Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Framing system, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.faztek.net/articles/modularframing.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) A tag has been placed on Framing system, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Karl 334 TALK to ME 20:15, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

June 2011

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Karl 334 TALK to ME 20:16, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Framing system. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. Acroterion (talk) 20:34, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I did not fully understand the policies of posting. I was trying to give people a way to improve workplace safety. Too many companies only put safety as priority one after an injury to a worker has occured. If I've done this in the wrong format, I will go back and reread the policy on how to achieve a better article. I am a team member of Faztek, so I am able to use the Faztek content. Please consider this a request to unblock my account.

Decline reason:

Your requested name would still clearly represent your company, even if you drop the "Safety" part of the name. But regardless, your request doesn't show that you understand our guideline against promotion. I strongly suggest you read the following page, and decide if you still wish to participate in the Wikipedia project: Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations -- Atama 21:05, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your position on the matter. I have looked at other postings and I am confused. 80/20 (framing systems) is a company located at www.8020.net. If I am not supposed to use my company name is there something different abut their post that I was doing wrong? I am trying to better understand your policies. I have read them, but as I said I have seen other posts just like mine. I have listed a new user name that doesn't have our company name in it.

Decline reason:

A user name is the nickname of a user - it represents a single person, with no inclinations as to the users normal work place or occupation. In addition we need to know what sort of editing you intend to do if unblocked.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:56, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am planning on writing articles about safety in the workplace using a combination of personal experience along with references to OSHA guidelines and published injury reports. My goal is to educate people on improving safety in the workplace. I would like to provide a solution by giving them an avenue to solve their problems by calling on Faztek, but if I need to let them figure that part out and not use Faztek I will leave our company name out. Can I link to the Faztek site educating people on the safety techniques or not? Is what I was doing different than what 80/20 (framing systems) is doing using their company name. I may have used my content improperly earlier today, but my first concern is to protect people from getting hurt on the job.

Decline reason:

Of course you may not link to the fastek site: it is a corporate entity, and you represent them (see WP:SPAM). Wikipedia is not a how to guide, it's an encyclopedia. Faztek's site is not recognized as a reliable, third party source of information. You also may not post original research. If your goal is to provide "how to" information, this might not be your best spot. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:29, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
" I would like to provide a solution by giving them an avenue to solve their problems by calling on Faztek" is advertising. You may not link to Faztek. The article on 80/20 appears to have been written by editors with no connection to the company: the opposite is true in your case, and you are strongly discouraged from writing in the area in which you have a clear conflict of interest. Acroterion (talk) 00:13, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You must also remember that this is not American Wikipedia - it's English Wikipedia about the world, and subject need a worldwide view - I'm a process safety chemist - I care not one whit about OSHA guidelines as (happily) I'm not in the USA.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 12:50, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you guys are strict with no forgiveness for first time users. Maybe you're right that this isn't the proper avenue for me, but whether people live in American or in another country there are safety concerns in the workplace. I would still like to educate people somehow to help protect them from getting hurt or killed on the job. If the people that are getting hurt on the job aren't using this site to get educated then it's a mute point. I'm not sure what else to do. Do I need to find another site to help protect people or do I need to write a post in my talk page for you guys to review?

Decline reason:

Actually, we're really forgiving, but we cannot unblock someone who explicitly promises to continue the same problematic edits which triggered the block. A simple 'I will cease promotional references to my company' would likely have sufficed. Kuru (talk) 14:13, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia isn't a how-to site. It's an encyclopedia. There probably are better places for this information, especially since "framing systems" have little or nothing to do with safety. Acroterion (talk) 13:27, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Framing Systems absolutely has a lot to do with safety. Faztek's entire business along with about 30 other competitors use framing systems to design and build machine enclosures, safety fencing, perimeter guarding, ergonomic workstations and carts, etc... to keep people safe. It sounds like I've hit a brick wall and it doesn't sound like you guys are willing to unblock me. I've never used this site before and asked for some help on a solution, but I'm guessing there isn't one for me.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline of second of two open requests from same editor. Kuru (talk) 14:14, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
One would assume you would have your own company web site, so that's where you should be focusing your efforts. A good web site design should help your ranking in the search engines. Another place for such data is WikiHow (http://www.wikihow.com/). And as for "strict with no forgiveness for first time users" - we strive to give the same treatment equally to all editors, it would unfair on them to treat new users differently, where a new uninvolved user is struggling with the rules we will help them conform with them, but we cannot help them break them.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:10, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
