Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia!

As I updated the proposed deletion notice to point out, Rice dishes is already a category... and it has many more items in it than the list does. Categories are generally preferred over lists, because among other things they can be updated by the creator of a new article by simply categorizing the article, while with a list, somebody needs to manually update it every time a new article is added. See WP:CLS for a good discussion of categories vs. lists.

Images

[edit]

I got your message. Unfortunately, I'm probably the worst admin to ask about images because I'm almost totally blind, so I don't deal with them much. The main thing I can say is that you have to be very careful when posting an image from another website because many images cannot be used on the Internet since it violates copyright law. Images need to have the proper licensing information and it is preferable that they are in the public domain. Academic Challenger 20:03, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photos

[edit]

Copyrighted fair use photos may not be used on userpages. I have removed all the fair use photos from your pages, as that is a violation of United States copyright law. Please ask me a specific question so I can help you, but if you are going to upload anything that is not a picture you took yourself, it is likely it is copyrighted and can't be used here. There are very few exceptions to this rule. pschemp | talk 20:41, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you disagree with my actions go to WP:ANI and make a post about it. Any editor can then read what you wrote and reply. pschemp | talk 01:47, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lui, you should familiarise yourself with fair use rationale. Template:Promophoto is a good starting point. Thanks. - Samsara (talkcontribs) 17:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of M.O.S.T

[edit]

A tag has been placed on M.O.S.T requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. alex.muller (talkedits) 18:27, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
