Welcome!
Hello, Fast4lax, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}}
on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:
- Your first article
- Biographies of living persons
- How to write a great article
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Help pages
- Tutorial
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!--Biografer (talk) 20:03, 6 September 2017 (UTC)
Style at JMU
[edit]A few notes from your JMU edits:
- MOS:HEADINGS says that headings should be in sentence case
- InterVarsity does not have a reference and there are extra blank lines causing additional vertical space
- Whilst the citation for faculty, students, etc. is still the same URL the reference access date is left at "October 15, 2017" which causes a mismatch between the figures presented and what you get when you look at the web site as it was on that date. Ideally those numbers should have the year in them.
- "Being the Change" is a tagline and not the motto. If you can find a reference to it being the actual motto then feel free to change it back with a citation.
I will make these changes but you should keep them in mind for future reference. Gusfriend (talk) 06:30, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
- There is no instance of "Knowledge is Liberty" on the JMU website whatsoever. Before "Being the Change", it was "Be the Change". But for trademark purposes, they had to change it. But it's been that way for 20+ years. Fast4lax (talk) 18:06, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
Important standard notice
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}}
on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

- It seems like your edits are strong-arming mine by eliminating every single one of them when many were in-fact quite helpful. What is the difference in my editing ability vs. yours? Many of my edits were about restructuring the page and adding sub-page references. Why get rid of all of them rather than a few? Fast4lax (talk) 15:44, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I added a line about Operation Warp Speed to this page. There's one small link to it on the entirety of the page. Seems odd for this to be left out. Fast4lax (talk) 15:54, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I also added a "social issues" section, just like it is done for other presidents to house all of these specific events. No other presidential page is set up in a way to have a list of random events in the table of contents. Fast4lax (talk) 16:00, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- To say that the response to COVID-19 was slow is an intentional mischaracterization by the author of this page. Operation Warp Speed was proposed a month after the first case in the United States, and there was a viable vaccine in under a year. Early actions to restrict travel are also not being represented here, and I added citation for this. Fast4lax (talk) 16:03, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Fast4lax, an administrator added a "24-hr BRD cycle" restriction to Presidency of Donald Trump. Your recent revert of Neutrality was a violation, as the restriction requires you to discuss reverted changes at the talk page and abstain from restoring them until after 24 hours have passed. Please self-revert as soon as possible. These kinds of restrictions are serious, but not immediately easy to understand, so let me know if I can help explain anything. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:10, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Nevermind, it was already reverted. Please be aware of the restriction moving forward, and keep an eye out for similar restrictions in other contentious American politics articles. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:12, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have discussed them here with you at the talk page level, and they have been ignored. Fast4lax (talk) 19:13, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have a few responses: Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:16, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Are you sure you mean me?
- It doesn't look like you've discussed anything at Talk:Presidency of Donald Trump
- Even if your posts are ignored, you need to make them and wait out the 24 hours before restoring disputed changes. Again, please ask any clarifying questions you have.

Edit summaries
[edit]Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Waterwangledweathers (talk to FFF) 15:28, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:08, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
