User talk:FROST.COLIN
Hello, FROST.COLIN. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 23:29, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--VVikingTalkEdits 23:29, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
thanks for the reply. I have declared my conflict of interest. it is not my intention to promote or publicize the company for which i work. i only want to help expand what i understood to be a high priority page within metalworking. the links i provided were once in a print book that is both published and now built out on the a webpage. i could add those references as book reference but i am not certain that makes the article more usable.
if the argument is that it is better to have no content that content of which users have a conflict (even if that conflict is declared) the so be it but i think that wikipedia would be worse off for it. what i will do moving forward is suggest me edits on the talk page -- so they can be reviewed for too much conflict and then someone les can choose wheter or not to incorporate them.colin (talk) 23:38, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
If you want to add the information please find a source that is not promotional and not linked to the company with whom you have a COI.--VVikingTalkEdits 15:02, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
