Re: Wealth tax

[edit]

I replied at Talk:Wealth tax#U.S. Constitution, Article 16, Income Tax. I very much hope I am wrong and you are right. If you can point me to where in the sources I found you see my mistake, or the articles you mentioned, that would be tremendously helpful.

Also, you can get the full text of those articles by requesting them at WP:RX since we're referring to them to help improve an article here, or try your local university or law library. —Cupco 04:28, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citations and reliable sources

[edit]

In this edit to 2-4-8 Tax Blend, you cited the fact that a payroll tax cut would effectively boost the economy with this editorial in USA Today. You recognize the difference between fact and opinion, do you not? The statements made by Joe Biden in USA Today were his opinion, as a politician, not reliable facts as produced by an experience economist. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:45, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article by Vice President Biden was a written submission and not an opinion off the top of his head. It is reasonable to assume that the professional staff of the Whitehouse and Office of the Vice President reviewed the submission (if they didn't goast write it). More importantly, Mr. Biden's experience in Congress makes him more qualified to render an opinion than any economist I know. Economic projections are opinions not fact. The two references together make it clear that there can be differences of opinion. 248TaxBlend (talk) 22:05, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to barge in, but this can be easily resolved by attributing the statement, e.g., "Joe Biden wrote...." —Cupco 01:12, 13 September 2012 (UTC) Comment The essay Wikipedia:These are not original research provides a good discussion about sources, interpretation and the difference between existing and new conclusions including the following points: • Organizing published facts and opinions which are based on sources that are directly related to the article topic—without introducing your opinion or fabricating new facts, or presenting an unpublished conclusion—is not original research. • Let the readers draw their own conclusions after seeing related facts in juxtaposition • You may attribute the conflicting positions directly to the sources with WP:INTEXT attribution: "Famous Expert A says that because inflation has been low, the economy will improve. Famous Expert B says that low inflation will lead to a worsening of the economy." • Identifying synonymous terms, and collecting related information under a common heading is also part of writing an encyclopedia. Your username

[edit]

Hi, there. Message from the username police. Remember to visit this page as soon as you log in again to get the name of your account changed. Otherwise an administrator may come by and 'force' it on you by temporarily locking down your account. We're very apprehensive about names that appear to come from groups, products, departments, non-personal offices, etc., which is why we don't allow them. It's one way of emphasizing the importance of neutrality and making sure that we can attribute any actions here to actual people. Take care. NTox · talk 23:40, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Why are you still editing under your old COI username? The point of having you change user names was to avoid the blatant appearance that you are editing on behalf of some entity. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 03:34, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps because the name change was never notified when it was performed? —Cupco 03:39, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried to change my preferences to EugenePatrickDevany 04:15, 14 September 2012 (UTC) I think it worked.
