Request reason:
I was blocked for adding context to biased information, which was not sourced. The flaws in Sarah Hughes's technique that I noted are documented here in Sports Illustrated by a respected journalist: https://vault.si.com/vault/2002/02/21/up-up-and-away-at-16-sarah-hughes-is-making-the-biggest-leap-of-her-lifefrom-high-school-kid-to-olympic-darling. I was trying to add this reference when I undid the previous edit. This is important contextual information to the unsourced claims about her skating technique. I am an expert in the field. Decline reason:
We have no way to know if you are an expert in anything. It's not that I disbelieve you, but anyone can claim to be anything here. This is why we have a strict biographies of living persons policy, we require sources, not context. 331dot (talk) 20:30, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

5 October 2024 unblock request
[edit]Estochka (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I edited unsourced information, which is inaccurate and biased. You asked for a source. I have provided one (New York Times article linked above). The biographies of living persons policy requires neutrality. The current page is anything but. It reads as if it's written by a PR agent, and the information to which I added context is unsourced and inaccurate. It seems as if my attempt to add contextual information that may not be favorable is being censored. I kindly ask to be unblocked, and to add the information with the source I have provided.
Decline reason:
This does not adequately address your edits or BLP policy. If you understand the BLP policy, then you should understand how your edits were in violation of it (and that you also engaged in edit warring), and should be able to explain this succinctly. (hint: the relevant policy is in the section WP:BLPRS). signed, Rosguill talk 18:41, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

The blocking admin said "Upon further review it's apparent that your sole use of this account has been to add disparaging material to biography articles. I've therefore blocked your account." Can you please comment on this? -- asilvering (talk) 02:43, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
- Replying to above: My intention is not to add disparaging information, but to correct misleading claims that I believe were written by PR agents or "super fans." I understand and appreciate that everything needs to be referenced (even though the material I was correcting was not referenced) and will commit to referencing anything I post in the future. I have been patient and have not attempted to register a new account or otherwise edit the pages while blocked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Estochka (talk • contribs)
