I notice that you've made significant edits to the article about Iain McGilchrist's excellent book, The Master and His Emissary. I've begun an article on him himself, feeling that he easily passes WP:BIO and WP:ACADEMIC. I would very grateful if you were to help me out with it. Thanks. Hi Jay, that sounds like a very good idea. At the time I started the article on the book, I found sufficient reliable sources to reference an article about the book, but when I first started that article, I fet that there wasn't enough to support a biography. There probably would be now, as you say. Good luck with that. I'm not sure if there's anything I could add, and I'm semi-retired from Wikipedia, but I'll have a look at your article from time to time, sure. Been trying to get the article mentioned in Lateralization of brain function, but the gatekeeper there wasn't happy with the lack of first grade peer reviews. You may find it useful to email Iain McGilchrist if there are any points you'd like to raise with him, or to get his feedback? With good wishes, Esowteric+Talk 14:40, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank a lot for the support and your immediate help and enthusiasm! I think we should definitely get a good, solid article out of this, and perhaps a DYK too. Something like ...that former literary scholar Iain McGilchrist wrote out against literary criticism before retraining as a doctor etc. Jay Σεβαστόςdiscuss 18:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
He's certainly a very intriguing guy. Jay Σεβαστόςdiscuss 18:11, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
You're most welcome, Jay. Good luck and be bold. Esowteric+Talk 18:18, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
On his web site, there are some contact email addresses. Like many other academics, and perhaps because he has psychiatric clients, there's very little biographical detail on-line, but you may be able to get a date of birth or even a year of birth out of him? We've exchanged emails (try the All Souls address first, if you're willing), and he's pointed out certain corrections and pointed me to reviews. Good luck, Jay. I haven't come up with anything when googling "Iain McGilchrist" "born in", "grew up"; etc. We can't even decide if he's Scottish or English, or make him an alumnus of such-and-such a college, and this does look like a deliberate policy on his part (?) Esowteric+Talk 11:29, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
About Iain McGilchrist provides a clearer picture of his academic history. Regards, Eric. Esowteric+Talk 12:20, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
