I finally started reading that article and just wanted to sincerely thank you for writing it. High-quality work. The only problem is somewhat one-sided referencing, which might raise concerns of WP:COI. I should add that, after the early version, I have anticipated the contribution by other wiki editors especially in the section of ESEM applications, as a result of which the references will naturally balance out. There are a lot of good ESEM publications and new contributions should occur sooner or later. This is necessary on account of wiki copyright limitations too. Other potential contributors have also reported especially on specimen contrast mechanisms, which would better fit in the companion article of gaseous detection device; that needs some expansion with an accompanying balancing of references too.
