Removing content for refspamming.
[edit]I would appreciate it if you at least try to find alternative sources for some of the things you deleted. From a small sampling, this would not be an impossible task. Much of the stuff you deleted is quite uncontroversial and can be easily sourced to other sites. Kleuske (talk) 07:17, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Understandable. The egregious violation should warrant the removal of links rewarding a banned user for spamming. Check the account - it's already banned.
- The Ackie guide on ReptiFiles is absolutely controversial - it was cut and pasted from Wikipedia to begin with and that is circular. Esasura (talk) 07:22, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- So remove that. But, case in point, in Spiny-tailed monitor you also removed statements sourced to other sources, which, by the looks of it, seem quite reliable, such as iucnredlist.org. Wanting to remove refspam is laudable, removing reliably sourced content is not. Kleuske (talk) 07:26, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Can you show me how to make the edit appropriately? Esasura (talk) 07:27, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- I restored Spiny-tailed_monitor and replaced the offending references with {{cn}}. Not removing reliably sourced material should be a no-brainer. I hope I don't have to explain that. Kleuske (talk) 07:31, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
I will look at the diff. It's a no-brainer to think I removed that intentionally. I think we are on the same page.
I was not comfortable leaving it at CN but if that works then I will do that next time. Thanks! Esasura (talk) 07:32, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- If you think the material is really off, remove only that section and explain what you're doing and why. Kleuske (talk) 07:34, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
In this instance the material is surely accurate and credited to the wrong person (intentional on ReptiFiles' part). I explained the sections were removed because of spam.
For the Dumerils Boa, iirc, she literally dropped a link to her site there. I removed it and only it. That still got reverted. Esasura (talk) 07:36, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
