Not a sexist word?
Howdy Errant. I feel compelled to stop by because you seem to have posted the single most incorrect statement I have seen on that sprawling Malleus AC case evidence page so far. This is surprising to me, because I have almost always found your comments to be among the most sensible of anyone's on this site, and I often nod my head in agreement whenever you post something. But, my friend, let me most definitely assure you, the word you refer to as "not sexist" is indeed quite sexist – indeed perhaps the most sexist – word in many parts of the world, including mine. Perhaps things are different in your neck of the woods, and indeed, if you'd prefaced your assertion with "where I live" or "among my acquaintances", I'd have no quarrel. But you didn't, so I must register my objection. Best, 28bytes (talk) 01:11, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Heya :) I can see how you might hold that view. My position on feminism and sexism is mostly defined by a number of years volunteering in womens shelters and helping abused women (via various means). It's a thing I feel very passionately about. Over that time my perspective has shifted radically - a few years ago "cunt" would have been a horrifying word to me. But several brilliant girls have opened my eyes to two things; firstly that one of the main proponents of modern sexism is the mad extremism that an individual word can be sexist whatever the context. And secondly that women have two true enemies; the true sexist, and the hard-line feminist. One of the most deeply pervasive problems in our society is that we maintain sexist idioms largely because a minority group is devoted to claiming them as sexist. (I realise this might come across as a marginal view right now, but I am hopeful that in not too many years we will be using cunt in much the same way we use dick right now :)). --Errant (chat!) 02:41, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Also; thanks for I have almost always found your comments to be among the most sensible of anyone's on this site; it's very nice to hear something like that :) I very almost always feel the same way about your own comments. :) --Errant (chat!) 02:45, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. :) I'll just add that Wiktionary has it spot-on regarding the word's US usage (although perhaps understating the case... where they have "in US, especially a woman", "(almost) exclusively a woman" might be more accurate, as I've never heard it used in the States to refer to a man) but it is striking that the US and GB usages are so different. Anyway, as it's the New Year where you are and almost the New Year where I am, I will resist the urge to further argue the point and will simply wish you a happy 2012. Cheers and happy editing, 28bytes (talk) 03:01, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Given his previous history and his current warning re: WP:TROUBLES this outburst of personl invective[1] from MarcusBritish against RA crosses the line.
While I agree RA's post didn't warrant sanction for MB (as we don't do retro active sanctions) this current behaviour does. Remarks like: "I'm too busy to listen to another Irishman moan. Pushing a plough over a ploughed field, or clutching at straws.. take your pick" and "Looking to scare some editors with more hyperbole RA? You can't stop people doing whatever they want in the real world, so you must be confused that sysop gives you magic powers beyond Wiki." are beyond acceptable and constitute a clear battleground mentality.
I'm bringing this to your attention as you had knowledge of the past issue with Sheodred[2]. At this point I'm wondering if imposing a civility parole on MarcusBritish (under the terms of WP:TROUBLES's discretionary sanctions) would help curb this behaviour? Would such an action fit with your understanding of past behaviour from this account? Or would a further, final warning suffice in you view?--Cailil talk 23:53, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- No it wouldn't "curb my behaviour" and I'm sick to fucking death of people using WP:TROUBLES as a weapon when they clearly don't have a God-damned clue what THE Troubles were. THE TROUBLES, the ACTUAL Troubles relates to a FIXED period in time when Irish nationalists were engaged in both militant and terrorist warfare against the British Army and the UK Government in the 1960s. It is, and I repeat this only because repetition is a good learning tool and I don't have access to a toffee hammer to twat it into some thick skulls, IT IS a piece of history that I do not give a flying fuck about. I don't care who killed who, when or where.. I don't care who the IRA bombed, who the Brits shot or hanged, who was jailed, who were heroes, who did anything! Capiche? It is NOT in my area of interest.. so how the Hell anyone can think a sanction in an area I don't and have never gotten involved in will help me is stupid! I don't give a fuck about Sport either.. you might as well threaten me with a sanction on mentioning "football" because I'd rather watch my cat piss on a fence than see 22 twats kick a ball about and then staty Wiki'ing about it, and in the same way, I'm just as uninterested in reading about, studying, or editing any article related to the Troubles. They are NOT my fucking Troubles, I wasn't even born.. I was still swimming circles in my daddy's right-nut waiting for him to shag my mother. Okay? I do not have an opinion on the matter. Terrorism is bad. Nationalism is stupid. UK retaining Northern Ireland is pointless. That is all I know, or care to think, I do not like politics either... just as boring as bloody sports! This is why the WP:TROUBLES list is a fucking joke.. because some people just haven't got a bastard clue what is means and use it as a weapon as is being done here in a POINTY fashion to make radical proposals under faux impressions. The list is supposed to restrict problematic Irish and British nationalistic editors in areas I don't even care about, but is in fact used to make personal attacks and imply that they are involved in some form of controversial subject, and enjoy being disruptive. It's more like a Sex Offenders Register the way people use it to condemn people, but in this case they falsely go off WITCH HUNTING: "Hey your name's on this page, and you have 'British' in your username, you must be a nationalistic prick", right? Is that the linear thinking I'm being subjected to here? Go read the bloody article on The Troubles and learn something. Then flick through my entire contrib history. Then I'll accept your apology for attacking me with a false premis. I don't get angered easy.. but this kind of shite gets so far up my fucking nose, it bleeds! You can't impose something based on TROUBLES sanctions when I've never been involved in that area of Wiki. Get your facts right.. because you're only provoking me here, intended or not.And given the underlying LIES behind this, I do not like it, or my integrity being questioned by people I don't fucking know, and who don't know me. Doon School Stamp
How to I provide the rationale for DoonSchoolStamp.jpg ? THanks! Merlaysamuel (talk) 14:31, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I am not sure you can. Unfortunately most copyright images can't be used on Wikipedia. Those that do fall under "fair use" must be used alongside critical commentary in the article (rather than just a mention/description) and must be used to highlight something that mere words cannot describe. In this case, unless there is something unique or descriptive about about stamp then it will probably not pass scrutiny. Sorry! --Errant (chat!) 15:34, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

- 2011120710002469 is the latest one I think. As I mentioned it is just procedural; I am sure it will be kept and have warned them of this possibility, but they explictly asked for the attempt :) When it is kept I will let them know and get further detail from them if needed. --Errant (chat!) 14:08, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- I can't see anything wrong with the Kam Air article. If they wish to inform us of where info is wrong, it will be looked at, and if found in need of correction it will be corrected. Not wanting "negative" info in the article will not get it deleted though. Mjroots (talk) 13:51, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Deletion of page
Hi You deleted the page Mobile Payments in India under a G12. Most of the text on that page came from cited sources, in the public domain. There were two images which were marked for speedy deletion which I contested, whence the admin apologised, since it was original work. I do not understand why the page had to be deleted in its entirety. I put in many days/weeks of effort to research and add content to that article. Note that the article had already been created and existed for over a year before I added more. Please let me know what is to be done so that it can be restored, and how I can prove that there is no copyvio. This is rather distressing. My intent is to spread information, like I have gained over Wikipedia, for an issue I have expertise in. Tanmaig (talk) 16:21, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hiya; the bulk of the information in the most recent version was copyright violations in that it was cut/paste from a few copyrighted sources. I've restored a copy of the article from Jan 3 before the copyvio stuff was added (by another editor) on the trust that the remainder is OK. Sorry I missed this - I went through a lot of the history and asked the person who had tagged it originally his view. Looking at the version now I recommend getting the WP:GOCE to look over the prose - and the sources probably need a bit of a rework. --Errant (chat!) 16:36, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Karl Ferris article, record cover images deletions
Hello Errantx,
Please reconsider these record cover image mistaken deletions because they are generally free for public reproduction in all media. As the record cover image helps make the public aware of them and make the record desirable. Also Wikipedia have hundereds or thousands of similar record cover images in their pages including these very same images ! So could you please help by arranging to reinstate all these images asap...
