Welcome to Wikipedia! Here you go...ioby. I'll watch your page so just edit this section if you have any questions about Wikipedia. Keep up the great work! --Xerographica (talk) 19:46, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor, who I've consistently had difficulties with, removed the content. So I requested that a third-party neutral editor review the content...User_talk:Little_green_rosetta#ioby. Thanks for your patience. --Xerographica (talk) 20:52, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Erinbarnes, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! – S. Also, you have mentioned your COI. Here is a template to use for declaring such COI. WP:COIDEC. – S. Rich (talk) 00:25, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the helpful information. I went ahead and added my affiliation to ioby to my signature and created a paragraph disclosing my COI on my user page. Let me know if I'm following the WP:COI appropriately, please.
Also, I'm still having trouble following and parsing conversations in the talk pages, so I have a sense I'm not even writing in the right place right now. I really appreciate all your help so far. My understanding was that I could use my user page to draft an article, invite other editors to weigh in and work it out to a place where it's ready to go live, then move it onto a live article page. That was my intention in drafting my user page that way. I see that it's removed from search engines, which is totally fine with me. But is it possible to continue editing it to a point of making it non-promotional, impartial and then pushing it to a live page? Thanks again for your help!

Thank, Erin, for the COI declaration. As you can see, I've set up a subpage for you. Here it is: User:Erinbarnes/ioby. It is a cut & paste from your userpage, minus the COI dec & noindex template. Also, it has a userdraft banner on top. That template will keep the subpage from being indexed. If you'd like other editors to work on it, then post a note to that effect on the page. (Please note a Ioby page has been set up already. And with your COIDEC, I will modify the connected user template.)
WRT (With Regard To) discussions, we indent new comments with leading colons (:). I've indented your remark, and then indented this comment with two colons. You are correct right now in discussing topics related to you and your userpages here. The Ioby talk page has discussions related to improvement of that article.
You will often find acronyms & abbreviations in edit summaries & discussion. See WP:G for more info.
What else? Oh, that's right! Enjoy!! – S. Rich (talk) 15:32, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User page edit (by SPA?)

[edit]

Please note, Erin, a brand new editor came in and modified the layout of your userpage. (See: [1].) The guidance in WP:NOBAN frowns on such behavior. (Also, the particular editor has made but this single edit.) I have restored your LGV (last good version) and re-added the NOINDEX template. For more guidance on userpages please see the other sections above and below NOBAN. Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 05:15, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ioby PROD

[edit]

Hello. For the second time a "speedy deletion" proposal for Ioby has been posted. I removed both proposals As the original poster of the article is indefinitely blocked from editing (after much discussion from numerous editors), I think a better route is the WP:AFD process, which allows for more discussion (and opportunities for article improvement). Thanks. – – S. Rich (talk) 14:00, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
