AfD format
[edit]Basically, there are three sorts of thread. There's Delete, Keep, and Comment. You are allowed one Keep or one Delete, and as many Comments as is needed. (If you change your mind, you can strikethrough (that's <s>strikethrough</s> when typing it in) a Keep or Delete, and give your reasons lower down. Keeps and Deletes can be Weak or Strong if needed to be. The way of creating a thread is like this:
*'''Delete''' I think this is a load of rhubarb complete with manure. ~~~
which will look like this when saved or previewed:
Substitute Keep, Comment or whatever applies - and obviously put your own remark... (I wouldn't advise you to use Warning - that's for admins and experienced AfD hands.) To add a remark that follows on from previous parts of a thread, start your line with : colons. Each one indents one step. Use enough to go one indent past the previous one. Never start a line with a space or spaces. It gives a weird result.
The reviewing admin doesn't count the Keeps and Deletes as such, but looks at the reasons given. If it is that there's one Keep (the author) and ten Deletes all giving sound reason, the AfD may close early per WP:SNOW. Doesn't often happen.
I've used the nowiki thing to get those coded bits to show as typing rather than display. If you look in the Edit view for this page you'll see how it does it. It may show above the type in screen as a road sign with a red line across a W. If not, it can be typed in.
Any queries, feel free to ask. Most of us are helpful when people aren't telling us how to do things properly (according to their wishes, that is...). Peridon (talk) 17:39, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
