Stoa USA
[edit]Hi! I'm going to take a better look at Stoa USA today, but one thing I've noticed already is that the article is in dire need of better references. As you're the creator of it, and probably know a lot more about it than me, can you see if you find any independent references for it? I'm going to look as well, and while it's probably notable according to WP:ORG, it still needs independent references to verify the notability and any content. Good idea. There are a couple of books (on my shelf) that provide information about Stoa USA by third parties. They are probably not the most ideal sources because it looks like they are self-published. However, they are independent of Stoa USA and do a good job of giving an unbiased analysis of Stoa USA. There are also the websites of the various independent clubs, school groups, and organizations that participate in the Stoa USA league (and other leagues) that can also potentially be used as sources. That's the best I can do so far, as I do not want to cite personal blogs, forums and other obviously unreliable sources for this page.
While I certainly agree that this article needs to diversify its references and sources, I still think Stoa USA's own website is a reasonably reliable source for many of the more intricate details of the organization. For example, I think it would be reasonable for someone to expect that the most reliable references of bylaws, rules, and qualification criteria be from Stoa's own website rather than from somewhere else.

- For information on how they are organized, rules, competitions and similar, they are absolutely the best source, no doubt about it. But the main problem however, is that the article lacks reliable independent sources that establish notability. If they operate on a nationwide level, they are notable assuming that information about the organization and its activities can be verified by multiple, third-party, independent, reliable sources. This is a must if the article is to be kept, if such references can't be found it fails as per WP:N. It's getting late over here where I live, but I'll take a look and see if I can find anything tomorrow. Can you please post any information regarding the book you mentioned, author, title, publisher and year of publication? I might be able to find more information about it, and it might help to establish notability. Bjelleklang - talk 21:00, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Also, here are several websites of clubs (student organizations that participate in Stoa USA) from around the country. Since these clubs are located throughout the country, hopefully this demonstrates that Stoa USA is national in scope.
Speak Out North Texas: [1]. Speech and Debate club in Texas that participates in Stoa tournaments and events. From their website: "Stoa is a national junior high and high school Speech and Debate League serving the needs of Christian home-schooling families across the nation."
Clash Debate Club (Based in San Jose/Santa Clara County, California): [2]. From their website: "CLASH debates in Stoa (Stoa), a home school Debate League."
Lighthouse Speech and Debate Club: [3]. Speech and Debate club based in Missouri, competes in Stoa tournaments.
Verve speech and debate club: [4]. Debate club based in Kirkland, Washington. Participates in Stoa Tournaments and events.
These websites appear to be independent of Stoa USA. There are also many other club websites that I did not post here. If you want me to post them I would be more than happy to do so.
