Hello Ephoph. Your edits to Winterreise are being discussed here. Yours, almost-instinct 18:00, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, glad you're talking now ;-) Firstly, I think your username might contravene some rule, but I really don't know where to look to find it. I very much agree that the Winterreise page is in a state and contains some iffy stuff - but I think replacement rather than mere deletion is the way to go. Although I know the work well, I don't know anything of the literature around it. If you do, and ever need any help getting the page more like how you think it ought to go, please just ask. - I wouldn't know what to replace that sentence with. I - as well as some others apparently - simply believe that the article is better off without it. That said, mere deletion is the only way I can imagine to fix it. It is my fault for not providing an 'Edit summary'... I get it. You've taught me a valid lesson on wiki-entry-etiquette and I thank you. Now, is there a way that I can convince you to remove the sentence?
- As for my username. Sheesh! I didn't realize that people were so sensitive here. I read up on it and it looks like my name does not cross any lines by itself. However, the mere fact that it is stirring up such controversy is enough to deem it unacceptable (it's disruptive). Unfortunately, it seems like it's more difficult to change my username than expected. I have to make a name change request to a bureaucrat. I probably haven't made enough contributions for them to consider changing my name since it's easier to just create a new account. Ephoph (talk) 16:11, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- How about replacing it some documented info on Schubert's state at the time? To what degree had his health deteriorated? More importantly, what effect had his decline had on his personality? I think that would be relevent, interesting and yes, a lot better than what's there at the moment. As for your username, I'm not fussed but on Wikipedia communication between editors tends to need plenty of TLC - it can be very easy for discussions to cool - and you might in time find your username has proved to be a hinderance almost-instinct 16:24, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- The thing is, my intention is to fix/correct the article, not add to it. I know the work well too, but I don't feel inclined, nor have the time to share all my knowledge of it right now. Thus, I ask again: Is there any chance that you would consider removing the sentence? Ephoph (talk) 16:46, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
