Welcome

[edit]

Information icon Hello Eoghan87 and welcome. While your contributions and disclosure of a possible external relationship/conflict of interest are both welcome, editors with a conflict of interest need to do a little more than simply declaring it. Among other expectations, editors with a conflict of interest would ideally:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

You might also please read WP:POLITICIAN. Which sets out that local politicians (like local councillors in Ireland) are not typically considered notable. And simply being a candidate for a national office doesn't automatically establish notability. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 13:10, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ah ok! Thanks a million for the details @Guliolopez. Sounds like Eoin needs to get elected and/or get some more press coverage before we can publish this, which is fair enough!
We had seen some links for other sitting Dublin City Councillors so figured we'd go for it anyway.
Does this article sit in draft for the meantime, and we can continue to propose changes via the talk page? Or will it be declined altogether?
Thank you! Eoghan87 (talk) 15:28, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thanks for your note. RE:
  • "Dublin Councillors". I'm not sure which articles you mean specifically but some Dublin City Councillors may be notable for other reasons. Like Hazel Chu (for being mayor), or Máire Devine (for previously being a senator) or Philip Sutcliffe (for being an Olympian) or others who have been the subject of significant coverage to the extent that they meet the WP:NBIO guidelines for some other reason. None of those articles should exist solely on the basis of the subject being elected to a local council seat.
  • "Sit in draft for the meantime". Yes. Unless you request its deletion for some reason, then the draft will remain in place. While editors with a conflict of interest may make unambiguously uncontroversial edits directly (like fixing obvious vandalism, spelling, grammar or other unambiguous errors or WP:BLP issues), other changes should be proposed on the Talk page. For other editors to review.
Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 15:43, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
