Good articles?

[edit]

Hi! I noticed you have green plus icons in the top right corner of your userpage and Talk page. Normally that indicates that one has made significant contributions towards that article to bring it up to Good Article status. Just out of curiosity, I looked at those pages. Phish is no longer a Good Article (it was delisted in February 2010) and I didn't see your name under the list of Contributors. Hair (musical) is still a Good Article, but again you weren't listed as one of the contributors. So basically I'm a bit mystified. Do you mind explaining? Puzzled, Jessemv (talk) 02:00, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I never put two green plus icons on my page, so I don't know. User:Entertainer91
I think Entertainer91 copied the page layout of MusicMaker5376 (talk · contribs) without altering much. That would explain why all of the big icon links go to MusicMaker5376's pages. --Chris (talk) 05:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. I think I understand. I suggest fixing this sometime. It's just misleading is all, I got confused. Thanks. Jessemv (talk) 06:14, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did copy it because I liked the layout. I didn't realize they went to a page that wasn't mine. I will fix it as soon as I can. Thanks! Entertainer91 (talk) 06:48, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just fixed the problem. Entertainer91 (talk) 08:10, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the images in your toolbar too. The text underneath the icons were correctly linking to your pages, but the icons themselves were still going to MusicMaker5376's pages. --Chris (talk) 14:58, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic. Thanks very much. Jessemv (talk) 17:11, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Entertainer91 (talk) 18:33, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Almost, Maine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Romantic Comedy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sourcing

[edit]

For your information, I watch Days everyday. I also read wikipedia's guidelines and know what is appropriate to add and what is not. You should familiarize yourself with WP:V and WP:PLOT regarding what is appropriate to add to works of fiction. Soapcentral is a fan site, which cannot be used as a source. Unsourced or improperly sourced material can be challenged and removed. Rm994 (talk) 05:18, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Um no how come every other character page states "spouse?" Why is there even a "spouse" section on the "character template." Most sites are fan run. Entertainer91 (talk) 05:32, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. Which is why they are deemed unreliable. Do not continue to add fan site sourced information to this article. If you want to discuss controversial changes, do it on the article talk page. If the community decides to add Ian, then so be it. I will not object. Thank you. Rm994 (talk) 16:49, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Userspace subpages

[edit]

You've been told this before.

You can create userspace subpages about obscure characters from, or individual episodes of, programs that actually existed.

You cannot create userspace subpages about characters from, and individual episodes of, programs that you made up. You've been told before that Wikipedia is not a free webhost for you to store your fiction. If you enjoy using the Wikipedia format, I suggest you download a free copy of the MediaWiki software and run it on your own machine.

Got it? DS (talk) 12:25, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have not added information that's not a show or real. Show me the links of my fiction that I have created recently? I stopped that. You need to stop snooping around and do your research if you think my "George Burns and Gracie Allen Show" episodes, since that was the only thing I have created on my sandboxes recently, then you need to look it up because you are wrong. Entertainer91 (talk) 20:38, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I comb through userpages to make sure that there's no inappropriate content (mostly spam and attack pages, but occasionally stuff like yours). And this page shows all the userspace subpages you have created. That stuff about "Everlasting" is unacceptable, as is the other content about imaginary actors who star in shows you made up.
I'm being more than fair here: I'm giving you the chance to save all your content. DS (talk) 23:33, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That stuff I understand, but the stuff about "George Burns and Allen Show," "Scripts & Scruples," and some pages I have been working about "Guiding Light" characters are all real. Everlasting and All My Days info can go. I understand about that. So make sure you check everything before you invade and delete pages. Oh and that download you sent me, the program, doesn't work. When I open the page it says can not open this page. Entertainer91 (talk) 03:38, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe they are real, I don't know. I don't think DS is willing to take the time to Google it to find out, because there ought to be citations to external and reliable sites. These will indicate whether something is made up or not. For example, based purely on your subpage article, for all I know "Scripts and Scruples" is completely fictional. But there are plenty of results when I Google it. I shouldn't have to do that because we are here to build an encyclopedia. The article should use citations to speak for itself. Jessemv (talk) 05:49, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, your sandboxes are early attempts, or drafts. It's something I have started but don't finish in one try. So you guys need to let me finish my factual stuff. Why does everyone seem to wanna bother me, when I am only helping out Wikipedia! Entertainer91 (talk) 06:01, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've never actually used my sandbox. I can understand that the stuff there is pretty rough. Sandboxes are used for learning wiki syntax, formatting, and for developing articles. If the latter case, I'd expect to see some collection of references or external links, as a sort of "here's some good stuff for me to go through later, they're good resources". I didn't see that. We're trying to make sure you stay focused on building encyclopedic articles. So how is it helping Wikipedia? They're currently in your sandbox, and not actually an article. Jessemv (talk) 03:13, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In order to make sure that it's only the made-up stuff that gets deleted, how about you tag those pages with {{db-u1}}, meaning "I created this userspace subpage and now I am asking for it to be deleted"? That way, you don't have to worry that I'll mis-identify a page as something you made up. DS (talk) 04:08, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Will do. Give me a couple days to save stuff. Thanks! Entertainer91 (talk) 04:33, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. By the way, the link I gave you for MediaWiki wasn't a download link, it was a link to our article about the software. Download links are on http://mediawiki.org. Thanks for understanding. DS (talk) 14:14, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And also note that MediaWiki isn't a standalone program -- it needs a database server and a web server to run. --Chris (talk) 15:32, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So, there we go. You asked for a few days. I gave you two weeks. I have just deleted all the subpages pertaining to "Everlasting" and "All My Days". The other stuff can stay. DS (talk) 15:01, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
