Blocked

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. ~Amatulić (talk) 13:32, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand that the page was blocked because of my username and the content of the article. Would it be possible to create another article about the company on a objective basis, delivering useful information about the product invented. My IP is blocked so I would like to know what should I do to be able to use wikipedia again and to eventually manage to talk a little bit about the company, if that is allowed... please i am willing to learn from my mistakes. Don't hesitate to give me advice for my next publication... Thanks a lot !

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Kuru (talk) 19:01, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Since I blocked you, I will leave it to another administrator to decide the merits of your request. But you should answer a question first:
After you read WP:CORP carefully, which describes inclusion criteria for articles about companies, answer the question: how would this company meet those criteria? It isn't enough to claim notability. You must have multiple independent reliable sources (not blogs or press releases) that give significant coverage of the company. I see a lot of blogs and press releases. Are there any relevant sources?
The answer will determine whether you should be unblocked for the purpose of writing about this company on Wikipedia. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:55, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
WP:CORP is one issue, but I'm more concerned with the promotional puffery in the article. Could you indicate that you have read and understood WP:COI, since you appear to have a connection with the company in question? 00:51, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer. I do have numerous articles about the company since its creation, and about its CEO that got listed in the 50 most important people in the wine industry in 2011, for instance. Articles published in the press online by independent journalist are valid, aren't they? I do have official documents, that could be scanned. i.e rewards throughout the years: innovator of the year in 2003... I am not willing to publish puffery staff, and will remove most of what was written to present in a few sentences the company, its business and the invention behind. You want me to indicate that I read WP:COI in the article? I would like to post it under blapoire, if this is possible. What I could do eventually, is writing the article again and then asking for your review before putting it online... Would that work for you?

No, we don't need you to indicate anything about COI in the article. We just want to know that you have read and understood WP:COI. You should also disclose your COI on your user page of your new account.
Also, after writing your article, you should probably work on it as a sub-page in your own user space, as in User:Blapoire/Enomatic for example (not yet, but after the username is created). Then propose it at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, which is a good idea for someone with a COI.
You don't have to keep posting new unblock requests. Just replies on this talk page are sufficient, leaving the other unblock request up. ~Amatulić (talk) 14:24, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have read read and understood WP:COI. I will disclose my COI on my user page in my new account, as required. But when will my IP be unblocked? ~Enomatic

Your IP will be unblocked when we are convinced the problem will not happen again. At this point, I'm comfortable if Amatulic's conditions are followed. Kuru (talk)
