As of September, 2012 the article titled Basic English contains the statement "Basic English is simple English" but then talks of the system developed by C.K. Ogden. The article also says that Basic is an "English based controlled language. In my opinion no language is simple to those who have no knowledge of it. And Ogden's Basic English was designed as as a first step complete in itself for those who use it as an international language and at the same time as a first step to those who will continue to the more emotive uses of the natural language. I copied the present article, added extensive references related to it and made occasional comments related to my understanding of Ogden's Basic English. I would prefer that since the present article is not consistent with the reasons for the system of Basic English that it remain for those who have their stated goals. And I would prefer that another page for Ogden's Basic English be created that honours the history and development of Ogden's creation. Englishwob (talk) 18:36, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
