It is not feasible to expect one individual to complete this article. Wikipedia is a co operative venture. This table sets out the scope and others can fill in from their own resources as time permits.

I can find no other comprehensive list of key power plant paramaters collected together in one article.

This article is redundant with Environmental concerns with electricity generation. Couldn't the table be completed and added to that article, instead of forking the content? --Wtshymanski (talk) 18:24, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have looked at the article cited above, but can see very little similarity between it and what is proposed for this article. It is intended to be a respository of basic facts about varoius power plant types and needs its own dedicate table in my humble opinion.

Right now it's a random catch all. Some quite inefficient power plants have no carbon footprint, and some very efficient plants put out lots of CO2. None of the random digits typed into the random table have any references, and it's hard to even tell what the numbers are supposed to mean. Are you sure this contextless table made up from numbers plucked from thin air is appropriate for an encyclopedia? If AfD is any guide line, consensus is that it is not. --Wtshymanski (talk) 05:07, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is a valid case for a free standing table with the key paramaters pertaining to the main power station or prime mover types. It should not be buried in another article - in any case they are not specifically environmental concerns.

I have access to some of the data but I do not see that the table should be fully populated before it needs to be published - why wshould one wiki editor have to do all the work, when there are other out there with some of the information.

References are availalbe, but this information is extremely hard to come by. Over the next few weeks I will be putting in some references as i have the time.

These are not random nunbers plucked from the air - they are close to actual values. If you have diffent referenced values put them in.Engineman (talk) 13:10, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article is close to a synthesis and origianl research. If the information is "hard to come by", it's not verifiable and doesn't belong in the encyclopedia. --Wtshymanski (talk) 20:15, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I think its reasonable for some more time to be allowed. But it cannot stay here in article space indefinitely in its current form, and, as you say, it may take some time to finish. . So I am moving it your user space, as User:Engineman/Power generating equipment efficiency and carbon footprint. We expect you to work on it actively--when it is ready, feel free to move it back--if in doubt, ask me or some other experienced Wikipedian for an opinion. If, however, you decide that the article cannot presently meet our standards, you can facilitate matters by placing at the top a line reading : {{db-author}}. When you have the necessary material, then try again. I do not want to discourage you, but to urge you to write a proper article if it is possible; if it is not yet possible, please help us by improving our other articles on related topics.
