Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

I didn't edit anything. I just suggested an edit because I disagree with previous consensus.
I have a strong argument that it needs to be:
Nikola Tesla was a Croatian-American inventor that originates from Serbia.
And they don't have any strong proof that it needs to be:
Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor...
They are offering random books as a secondary source that claims he was an ethic Serb,
but those books also stated that Serbia didn't officially existed as a country when
Nikola Tesla was born.
Then if Croatia is not mentioned, Serbia can't be mentioned either. Mention both countries, or neither one! Endy Angello (talk) 11:30, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page blocks

[edit]

For persistent bludgeoning and assumptions of bad faith (actually continued at WP:ANI, too), you have been indefinitely page-blocked from Talk:Nikola Tesla/Nationality and ethnicity. Also from Nicola Tesla, since editing the article without having access to the talkpage would be quite paradoxical. I hope you won't move the disruption to other pages; if you do, you may expect a site-wide block. If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. @Bishonen Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Endy Angello (talk) 22:41, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Confine your comments to improving the encyclopedia, instead of adding hostile parables directed at another editor. That is inappropriate. Cullen328 (talk) 00:09, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This comment wasn't act of hostility towards @Bishonen. I tried to improve encyclopedia with a lot of suggestions but one of the editors reported me so I told @Bishonen to not be fooled with his sweet talk and I used this quote as a reference. Endy Angello (talk) 00:25, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
