Mami Mizutori
[edit]Hi Elsworthj: I saw your comment at User talk:Praxidicae and have done some work on your draft. As you were told there, a Wikipedia article cannot be based on an official biography, both for copyright reasons and because as an encyclopedia we have a different purpose: to summarise what reliable sources have published. But the official biography can be used as a source, so I did so, and added some other references, while rewriting it to better conform to our usual format. I appreciate your point about disparity in our coverage of men and women, which is one reason I worked on the draft. But it's more of an accident than it may appear, since articles are all written by volunteers and there's a big element of chance in who has time and decides to write up someone or something. (I note you updated Robert Glasser's page, no one else having thought to do so.) Unfortunately, after examining the sources, including what I was able to find as a non-reader of Japanese via the ja.wikipedia article, I am not sure whether Mizutori meets our notability criteria (which you will find here); I wasn't able to find much additional coverage of her and am not sure whether her UN position confers automatic notability. You may want to resubmit the article and let the next AfC reviewer decide; if they don't accept it, they may give useful advice as to how to improve it. Or after looking at my changes, you may be able to add further sources; for example, you may not have been aware that foreign-language news articles about her can be used and count toward demonstrating notability. Whatever you decide to do, good luck and thanks for your work. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:36, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
