A tag has been placed on BirdNote requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. (Not sure I've done this correctly. BirdNote is a nonprofit dedicated to education and conservation about birds and their habitats. Unless you can see the photo on the website or listen to a podcast or the actual radio vignette, it will be pretty meaningless. I would be happy to rewrite it. Pointers? Put the mission in the first or second sentence? Thanks!
Use of the Hangon tag
[edit]I saw the {{hangon}} template on this page, and I wanted to help. You seem to have misunderstood the use of the {{hangon}} template. To contest a proposed speedy deletion you add {{hangon}} to the page in question (the page that an editor has tagged for speedy deletion), just below the speedy delete tag (which usually has a name that starts with db (for "delete because")). You do not add it to your user talk page below the message informing you that a page has been tagged for speedy deletion, because then people looking at the page tagged for speedy deletion won't see it.
If a page has been deleted before you see the message, or in spite of your use of hangon, you can send a message to the deleting admin on his or her user talk page. If you click on a link to a deleted page you will see the relevant deletion log entries, which will show you the user ID of the admin who did the deletion. Edit summaries
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to Cornell_Laboratory_of_Ornithology. I am one of the maintainers of the Cornell University WikiProject, and when I am patrolling for vandalism and other bad edits, it is a great help to have edit summaries to look at-- edits with no summaries attract the most suspicion, I'm sorry to say :). Thank you for your help! Notyourbroom (talk) 22:13, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry if I am not following protocol here; I'm out of practice! Someone has done a LOT of wonderful work on this page. I prefer not to tamper with it, but I do think this article http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22952174 from the NIH should be included. It's a serious issue.
