This was a non-notable band according to the criteria set out in WP:BAND. Perhaps Myspace would be a better location for this information rather than an encylopedia, until the criteria are satisfied.  (aeropagitica)   (talk)  22:52, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to not have an article deleted

[edit]

Hi Electronique and welcome to Wikipedia!

If you need to write an article about a band, you need to make sure it clearly meets the criteria for inclusion on this page. If it doesn't, it will meet the criteria for exclusion listed here - specifically "A7" (which is "articles that do not assert notability for their subject").

If the band in question doesn't meet the inclusion criteria - and the majority don't - then we can't have it in Wikipedia. Even if it does meet the criteria, if the article doesn't say so clearly and cite sources for the claims then it will be deleted.

This is because Wikipedia gets a couple of thousand speedy deletable articles submitted everyday. And we delete them without prejudice to avoid getting swamped (most are about garage-based bands, schoolteachers and homosexual friends of the teenager writing the article) because we are an encyclopedia, not a random collection of information and we are also a charity and not a commercial company like MySpace (in other words, those types of articles are stealing bandwidth and server space from a charity run by volunteers. Yikes!)

If you've got any doubt about the band in question, I'd advise creating the article in your userspace - User:Electronique/Draft article - and working on it to make it meet WP:BAND and avoid WP:N. Then you can ask for a peer review, or get an experienced editor to review the article and move it to the mainspace when you're done.

Hope this helps! I'll drop you a list of links below that may also help. ЯEDVERS 18:24, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article Pink and Brown has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

not clear how this might meet WP:BAND, lacks references to 3rd party sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 04:27, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
