Speedy deletion of Pocket venus

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Pocket venus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Loukinho (talk) 19:14, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Pocket Venus (Band)

[edit]

I understand your concern about the band's notable feat. However, the lack of media coverage of the event (or sources thereof) and lack of reliable sources (magazines, newspapers) are grounds for the belief that the band lacks notability for an article in an encyclopedia. There are hundreds of thousands of bands in the world and, although we would like to place more band articles, there's just no room for all of them in an encyclopedia and thus, at this time we try to separate verifiable and notable bands from those that are not notable yet. About the deletion, only administrators can delete the article and, as I am not an administrator, I cannot delete the article and only administrators in the previous link are able to give you a backup of the article. I hope that this message was able to explain why the article was deleted. Of course, if you need any more help, feel free to drop a few lines on my talk page. I will be glad to help you. -- Loukinho (talk) 22:48, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pocket problems

[edit]

To start with the most minor one: an article about a band called Pocket Venus should be "Pocket Venus" not "Pocket venus"! More importantly, I suggest that you read WP:MUSIC, WP:NPOV, WP:PEACOCK and WP:CITE to see whether this article should be created; and, if it should, what you need to change about the draft I've seen. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:51, 16 July 2008 (UTC) Oh, yeah: Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you![reply]
