Final Wishes and Requests
Anyone who knows me well, such as my friend Doug, knows I am not a fan of the Wikidrama. So I have two very simple, easy to follow requests.
1. I left Wikipedia for a reason and if I wanted to come back I could do so easily. I am unlikely to be swayed by declarations of sorrow. I feel all too many people say they're "leaving WP 4evar" just to generate pity, or have a lot of people tell them to come back so they can feel good about themselves. Folks, I got a life, outside of this, and people who I actually do thing with away from the computer. I'm leaving the Wiki because the juvenile actions of some people piss me off. I'll come back if I need something, but I don't want a thousand comments.
2. Go create an article from scratch, after spending an hour in a library. You know, the buildings with actual books in them? Get you a notepad. A pencil. Some coke. Some music on your iPod. Shit, take your friends. Go study a subject and write notes down. LEARN something, then make an article on it, a NEW one. Or print out an existing one and take it to the library, or the university, and make it better.
The whole point of this project, ostensibly, is the creation and codification of knowledge. It's not a social club. It's not a place to champion your nationalistic views, or your racist theories, or your stupid conspiracies. Making an encyclopedia requires research, and wanting to learn, and doing it right.
I'm done here. If you need to get into contact with me, my email is at the top of the page. If you want my goodbyes, they'll be on the front page.
Whatever you're looking for I hope you find it a wise man would say in one of those tearjerking moments in a movie. I'm not a wise old man, so I'll just wish you the best & hope you decide to come back if you ever want to delete anything. Best wishes for the future, :) El Presidante of the Wikidrama-club ;).
I think I'll do that. :) Good luck. — $PЯINGrαgђ 18:58, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Elara, thank you for your lovely poem on my talk page, thank you for all you've done for Wikipedia, and thank you for caring. I will try to send you a more detailed message today or tomorrow. Thanks again. --Kyoko 19:42, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good morning (GMT time); every Wikipedian decides it's time to leave at some time or another, so I'm not going to bombard you with pleas to stay.
Instead, let me just say, you will be missed, and your contributions have been invaluable. If a day comes when you return, it will be one of gladness.
Kindest regards, anthonycfc [talk] 21:56, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Elaragirl. You are one of the toughest Wikipedians I know. You won't be being true to yourself if you give up.
Take a wikibreak. But then, come back. And double and then redouble your efforts, if that's what it takes.
Because we need you in the trenches.
You should stay. And fight the good fight...
Because it's the right thing to do.

is hereby awarded to Elaragirl, for going beyond the call of duty for Wikipedia, by championing quality by defending the encyclopedia from the inclusion of all manner of crap. And for writing a lesson on deletion and deletionism for the Virtual classroom. And last but not least, for being a spokesperson and activist for the deletion departments of Wikipedia. -- The Transhumanist 23:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is Flameviper. I just wanted to say that I'm leaving Wikipedia now, as well as you.
I left a message on your talk page shortly before being blocked, and it was not meant as a personal attack. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way.
Anyway, I just wanted to apologise for being a sod, so that I can finally rest in peace.

I fear what's going to happen with WP:SCISSORS but ah well. Later. NeoFreak 11:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
~sighs~ it is people like you Elara who make Wiki worth reading and contributing to. My heart breaks for your battle hard fought at home. I'll still keep you and her in my prayers. I much admire and respect who you are. Mystar 01:41, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unlike some other people, I respect your decision to leave. Though I never really met you, I'd like to say thanks for all your contributions to Wikipedia while you were here. Goodbye, RyGuy 12:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't delete yourself from the project! I hope you come back some day. >Radiant< 14:53, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Even though I didn't always agree with your methods, I think you were an excellent contributor to Wikipedia and I'm sad to see you go. Good luck in whatever endeavors you choose to undertake in your life. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Although I saw you said u were leaving, but I still see you around sporadically, have u really left Wikipedia? 英文的维基是需要我们中国人的声音的。 WooyiTalk, Editor review 19:22, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have a Wikibreak and then please come back! Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 07:08, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know you probably have never heard of me, but I have seen your edit all the time. Please stay, if nothing else then just for the frendships you have made here. -Mschel 18:51, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I copied the layout from your memory page at mine because yours was beautiful and mine was, well, rather plain to say the least. :) I hope you're fine with that. — $PЯINGrαgђ 18:28, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've put up a petition on Spawny's Talk Page to cheer him up/make him come back. cheers, Cas Liber | talk | contribs 09:29, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Elaramail.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. hbdragon88 04:15, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry - as it stands the iamge is hard to read, and it breaks accessibility – people using text-only browsers or screen readers can't read the email address. The format I put it in will avoid spambots from picking it up. hbdragon88 04:15, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I closed this IFD as a keep today. Hbdragon88 makes a good suggestion about replacing the image with the e-mail address in a text format that still circumvents spambots, but it's Elaragirl's call to make. There are plenty of worse things in userspace for screen readers -- Samir 06:58, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Elaragirl. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Barney-Fife.jpg) was found at the following location: User talk:Elaragirl/Archive 3. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:33, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
