Education in the United States

Note that rural Lake Region High School is listed by U.S. News & World Report as being the third best high school in that state. It is one of the most disadvantaged, as well. More importantly, the more disadvantaged eleventh graders score higher on the New England standardized test(NECAP) that the "advantaged" students. There are essentially no minorities in the school. The tiny handful that are there do quite well academically. I can assure you that no attention is given at all to whether a student is "disadvantaged" or not. Teachers could care less.

The flip side of this, is that Southern students do lousy when compared generally with the rest of the country. However, when separated out by minority, white students are equal to the rest of the country. (US government figures) Better yet, blacks perform better than blacks in the rest of the country. Two exceptions: Mississippi which does poorly either way; and Massachusetts which does well either way. Student7 (talk) 18:28, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
