Referencing
[edit]Try this: Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners...Modernist (talk) 04:05, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
The article Mireille Astore has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- I can't find any significant reliable sources about this person, so it does not seem that they pass the notability requirements.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:49, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]Hi! I saw the question you raised on the Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests noticeboard. One of the more confusing (at times) aspects of Wikipedia is the way the notability guideline works: the issue isn't whether or not someone is notable in a general sense, but whether or not they have been noticed in terms of the right sort of coverage. In the case of Mireille Astore, I get the impression that she is a notable artist, but that's not quite enough - what is also needed here is sufficient coverage in reliable sources. The WP:GNG guideline explains the general principals quite well. While this approach does risk a situation where potentially significant subjects aren't really covered, the guideline serves an important purpose, as it tries to limit topics such that only subjects that have a chance of being verified are written about, and verification is a core policy for Wikipedia.
At any rate, editors have added some more sources to go with those you already added, so it may be enough to meet the notability requirements. I'm hoping so, anyway, but it is difficult to predict at times. :) However, if you know of anything else in which Astore is discussed - especially independent published works, such as newspapers, journals or books - that would go a long way to meeting the requirements. And if I can help in any way, just let me know. - Bilby (talk) 11:45, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi Bilby, thanks for this. I also learnt last night how to actually add references so I will search for more and place them there. Cheers,--EidM (talk) 19:36, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
