Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

[edit]Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Egypt–Palestine relations. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Logging in and out to make the same edits is a form of sockpuppetry. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 15:19, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't log in or out I made the edit and replied to you then registered then replied again, then made the same edit because..., and also you say this page is under the continuous topic, but the page it self is not. EgyptianLad (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Egypt–Palestine relations is absolutely under contentious topics restrictions. Look at the notice at the top of Talk:Egypt–Palestine relations. Creating an account to continue making edits you were already warned about as an IP is socking. Please stop violating NPOV with your edits or you risk being blocked. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 15:31, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- then how did I edit it with no account? EgyptianLad (talk) 15:32, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- You don't need an account to edit. You made this edit as an IP and then this identical edit with your account. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 15:37, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

- and my point of view is more than neutral and i'm not shocking any ups that's my ip for all I know someone could hack me rn EgyptianLad (talk) 15:35, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- It isn't a neutral edit and pretending that you have been hacked to evade consequences isn't going to work. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 15:37, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- i said: someone "could" hack me rn. and if I don't need an account with 30 days and 500 edits to edit then doesn't this make the article not a continuous article hence why it's not protected. EgyptianLad (talk) 15:44, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

- did you read the article I linked before where it mentions israeli official's clear intentions in Genocide or did you not even take it into consideration, and I noticed I made a typo earlier I meant say that it doesn't make a difference where i'm from, but does for sure grant me the right to talk EgyptianLad (talk) 15:54, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

- A discussion already took place on renaming Israel–Hamas war to something similar to your attempted edit and the consensus was not to do so. Editing against consensus on a contentious topic can lead to a block. I really can't make it more explicit than that. ThaddeusSholto (talk) 15:59, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- you realise you're being an ignorant, for all I know your the one who's repeatedly editing the page you know I could get u blocked for that, and the fact that there is a similar edit that toke place means my point is more neutral than i thought... EgyptianLad (talk) 16:06, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
