Hi, Egobrands. I'm 3PPYB6, another editor on Wikipedia. I was wondering whether or not the article you recently wrote, Julian Bannerman, had been created in return for payments. In accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, you are required to disclose any paid contributions you have partaken in—you can do this by following the instructions at WP:PAID#How to disclose (I see you have already disclosed that you have disclosed that you were paid to create Bannerman Design). For now, I have placed a conflict-of-interest tag on the article (seeing as you pretty much have a connection to Julian), but please do let me know if you have been paid to create this article, so there is no obscurity regarding your contributions later on.
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 21:44, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Also, could you please clarify the same matters as listed above regarding Isabel Bannerman? Thanks. — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 21:46, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- hi @3PPYB6 Thank you for your notes. Yes, I was contracted by Isabel of Bannerman Designs to create both articles however this is the only connection and all information was acquired through diligent research. Can you please advise how to proceed? Egobrands (talk) 10:52, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Egobrands, there is a list of instructions on WP:PAID#How to disclose, but I can further simplify it. Your user page already contains a disclaimer that you have been paid for your contributions. Now, in that same template, add the "
article
" parameter (this can be done by adding "|article=(insert here)
" to the existing template. To quote the page, the conflict of interest guideline suggests that you also add the template {{connected contributor (paid)}} to the talk pages of articles whom you have been paid to create. For example, you can go to Talk:Isabel Bannerman or Talk:Julian Bannerman (or click the "Talk" tab on an article) and then create or edit the page with that above mentioned template. Hopefully this helps! — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 13:19, 20 March 2023 (UTC)- Hi again; unfortunately I was not clear enough. It appears as though you actually have to set the
userbox
andlist
parameters to "yes
". Then, you need to edit thearticles
(this is important; scratch thearticle
parameter because it's singular) and list your articles in bullet form (in wikitext, insert an asterisk (*
). Hopefully I clarified myself, and sorry for any confusion. — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 13:34, 20 March 2023 (UTC)- thank you, will this allow the conflict of interest flag to be removed from the page publicly? Also there are tags on Isabel Bannerman page that are no longer valid, how do I have these removed? Egobrands (talk) 13:49, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi; thanks again for the notes - I followed along and completed the disclosures on both article talk pages Talk:Isabel Bannermanand Talk:Julian Bannerman and updated my user page. Egobrands (talk) 08:29, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- Your updates look good! As for the tags that needed to be removed, I believe you were referring to the orphan tag on Isabel Bannerman; I've since removed it as it has been linked to from somewhere else. I've also removed the COI tag as you have already disclosed your paid contributions. However, both pages need to be tagged with the paid contributions tag until the pages have been cleaned up to meet Wikipedia's quality standards.
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 13:26, 31 March 2023 (UTC)- Thank you for responding to my questions. I appreciate your help. How do we go about cleaning up? Also what about the notability tag on Isabel Bannerman? Was that not related to the orphan tag? I've since added plenty of references. Egobrands (talk) 13:43, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi again @3PPYB6, I see on the quality standards. page you linked where articles can be posted for cleanup, is that what I need to do? Thanks again for your help. Egobrands (talk) 22:28, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Egobrands, I'm sorry I couldn't answer earlier (it has been more than the 100-hour expectation I set). For the notability tag, I would assume that the article barely passes the general notability guideline (The subject is significantly covered in reliable sources such as The Independent and The New York Times, so it may make sense to remove the tag (of which it already has been removed). Lastly, I do not think you need to post a request for cleanup; the "paid contributions" tag will probably take care of that. Thanks! — 3PPYB6 (T / C / L) — 14:55, 8 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @3PPYB6thank you for getting back to me. Will this tag be on the article indefinitely? How do I ensure that it is in fact reviewed for cleanup to meet wikipedias standards? Who usually does this cleanup? Egobrands (talk) 22:05, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
