Totnes, hmm!
It is indeed a good castle, although not really worth the £2.50 admittance - however, being a resident means you get to learn how to sneak in. I've got some photos of the castle I should upload to here actually. i'll get onto that one day... Totnesmartin (talk) 20:47, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
story
done, at the bottom of my user page.:) I don't like to use sub pages very often for anything but article writing, because of WP:NOTMYSPACE. :) Sticky Parkin 21:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm on it. Should be a day or two, I'll let you know when I'm done. L'Aquatique[review] 22:37, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

writing an article
Out of interest, just wondering if you ever considered writing an article you eventually moved to the encyclopedia mainspace, and what it would be about?:) Sticky Parkin 20:24, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
floyd
"I was looking at Sky One, or Two, or Three, one day, and I saw a show called Floyd Around The World. It turned out it was to do with Keith Floyd! OMG! It's like you're psychic!"
-how disappointing for you lol:) I must be psychic, of course it's not a coincidence, as there's no such thing, according to psychics. I did actually work as a tarot reader for a few months, years ago...OMG are you psychic yourself?:)
"BTW, I can't give you the barnie cos you patrol me!"
-Do you mean a barnstar? Of course you can, maybe I need to do a bit more to earn it, such as help you write an article (hint hint) :) Sticky Parkin 18:18, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
P.P.S- I've not been on as much because I had a long and annoying form to fill in, so I asked User:Tuxraider reloaded to take my laptop off me for the night so I actually did some work on it. But it's done now- hurrah! So, back to my wiki addiction...:) Sticky Parkin 18:22, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

RE: Ok...
I'll remove the protection if you and others will quit edit warring over it. As pointed out to you several times, there are guidelines preventing this type of content on userpages. Again, the link is Wikipedia:USER#Simulated MediaWiki interfaces. I invite you to review this, and hopefully understand the reason that it is being removed. - Rjd0060 (talk) 17:37, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Noooo, I was out and missed the drama:( I just need to catch up, will message more in a bit when I found out what's happened. Don't worry, I've been through some terrible troubles (mainly my own fault in my case though lol) on wiki myself and come well out the other side. Sticky Parkin 00:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Back. I hope you don't let this put you of editing for long, and sorry that I didn't think that it might be a problem- I've known that these were frowned upon in the past but thought it must be more acceptable now, if you had it. I do feel a message could have been left on your talk page, but that's just my humble opinion. Enjoy your trip and I hope you still manage to get online sometimes. Remember it's all a learning curve and everything is (arguably) designed to shape us into better people.:) Do you understand what Daniel meant here [1] about social networking on wiki?Sticky Parkin 01:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

userpage
Sorry, I thought because you put 'center' round it you wanted it to be in the centre. The way it's gone also means people can't see a lot of it without scrolling to the right. Sticky Parkin 20:52, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
hammer and sickle thingy
I'm not good at things like that, art etc. You could try asking my friend User:TharkunColl. However, you know you should be working on articles:) Sticky Parkin 00:49, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
If you enable an email address in your preferences (you can make a new hotmail if you don't want people from wiki knowing your usual email addy) people can email you too.:) Sticky Parkin 00:49, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Intervene
I'm doing the best I can, but basically you need to talk to them and promise reform, and stop most of your edits to pages not concerned with the encyclopedia or at least discussions of its content, and restrain how you talk to people, cut the ZOMGs and pictures. Say to Daniel etc that you're sorry that your edits so far haven't been more to do with the encyclopedia, give them your word that you'll edit the encyclopedia more, and it should turn out ok, or others will support you I hope. You could enable email too, so people can discuss things with you in more depth. And once you've said this to them, it goes with out saying that you have to follow through on what you promise.:) That's if you still want to stay and to contribute to wikipedia (which I hope you do) rather than some project which is about humour such as Uncyclopedia (that isn't a criticism, I'm just saying, if that's something you think would suit you more then that's fine.) Of course there's no rule against contributing humour to a site that's dedicated to it (which is something you might like to consider) and also editing here if you want to contribute to the encyclopedia. Sticky Parkin 20:15, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
editing
Someone happened to email me about people who are finding it difficult to edit articles much, perhaps it might be useful to you (or me lol). They said "Maybe just needs to find smaller, lower-traffic articles to work on. I know that for me, I don't even bother with big ones, because there's (seemingly, at least) hundreds watching it already anyway. I stick with smaller ones, where I can contribute more, and where they may actually need people to watch for vandalism, that sort of thing. Maybe that would help?" Sticky Parkin 11:54, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
If you need some help...
Hey. I've been noticing you've had a little bit of a rough start, it seems like. I'm somewhat new too (started editing around January), but what it's worth I'm more than happy to give advice or whatnot if you'd like, or give feedback, or whatever. I tend to be bluntly honest (which can be misinterpreted as being rude), but you're more than welcome to head over to my talk page, or if you prefer, drop me an email. You're more than welcome to do either. Unforgiven24 (talk) 20:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Hallo, I am from the german Wikipedia from the sociologic section, and I found out that you wrote a song text on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Song . We want to know the reason(s) why you wrote this song. It would be kind of you to leave an english (or german) comment on http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Wikipedistik/Soziologie/Musik&action=edit&redlink=1 . Userboxen
Which userboxen are you talking about? The only ones I deleted from the list were ones that were showing up as red links when transcluded. I could have made a mistake, though. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 16:48, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

I have tried reformatting the page a number of different ways, including into the standard format I put your boxes in, but then many of the rest of the boxes do not display correctly. I am not sure what the problem is there. - Ahunt (talk) 18:55, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Seems like it. Perhaps I will take another crack and reformatting the whole page later on. At least your boxes are there and the formatting works even though it is not consistent across the whole page. - Ahunt (talk) 19:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay I spent some time on the page and reformatted it to the standard format we use on other Userbox pages. It took quite a bit of tweaking to get the boxes to all work right, but it is all sorted out now. They are all in the same format and all display correctly with no redlinks showing! Whew! - Ahunt (talk) 17:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
spoiler notices
The wiki decided not to have spoiler notices anywhere- Wikipedia:Spoiler_warning. The reason is that people can assume an encyclopedia article on a subject is going to cover all the important details, plus the heading plot or whatever means readers can skip a section if they don't want to know yet. Sticky Parkin 00:25, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
template to mark works in progress
Do you mean like these [3]? There are quite a few there you could use. I don't think anyone would object to you making a template, either, as long as it's related to encyclopedia-building. Bear in mind that all of wikipedia is a work in progress :) , so unless there's some pressing need or crucial circumstances, we don't often need to say so on an article. Sticky Parkin 14:43, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you're planning to do and if it's ok until you've done it, but if you find some other pink floyd or whatever editors who are willing to help you work on it, then you can't completely take the flack for it all if someone objects lol:) Sticky Parkin 15:07, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ooooh, I'm not quite sure what it means. Perhaps you could put "is intended to become a large article. Please ask the creator first before deleting."

[4] I don't think you'll win many friends in high places if you were to do this. It died for a perceived reason. Bigger reasons than WP:NOTMYSPACE. You need to enable email, then I can chat to you about it. Sticky Parkin 15:38, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/Wikipedia:Esperanza It was accused of becoming a cabal, where people believed there was some conspiring to bring about things they wanted to happen on wiki. I don't know the details, you could read that looong MfD lol. Sticky Parkin 15:47, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- don't panic- I'm sure people will WP:AGF and realise you meant well. I think the problem people saw in Esperanza is we should/are all be welcoming, supportive and friendly to others. If people make a page saying they will, they're sort of implying other people aren't, if you see what I mean. We both know not everyone is all that friendly and welcoming on wikipedia, but for everyone to be like that should be encouraged, not just some people, and implying that they were the most loving on wiki, people saw as a perceived insult. It was before I was really involved in wiki. But no, don't panic:) Sticky Parkin 16:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

A lot of people seem to be getting into Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron and perhaps you might enjoy it. I don't know much about it though. Handy tabs
Hi,
Sorry for not answering before. You asked about handy tabs. To get them, go to your monobook page and paste in:
importScript('User:Lightmouse/monobook.js/script.js');
Either replace everything that is already there or just put it at the bottom. Press 'Save'. Then clear your cache according to the instructions. Go to a page that you want to edit and press the 'edit this page' tab. Then you will see some new tabs appear. Let me know when you get this far. Lightmouse (talk) 16:21, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
