Blocked

[edit]

Yamla (talk) 11:35, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Editor446 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am a real person not a sock...

I was adding the devices to the Amazfit page as I was investigating which device is best. I usually compare specs on other things, like Samsung phones, as people maintain a good list of devices there.

Please can you unblock my account and re-add the device. I was planning to add more devices later.

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=I am a real person not a sock... I was adding the devices to the Amazfit page as I was investigating which device is best. I usually compare specs on other things, like Samsung phones, as people maintain a good list of devices there. Please can you unblock my account and re-add the device. I was planning to add more devices later. |3 = ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

{{unblock reviewed |1=I am a real person not a sock... I was adding the devices to the Amazfit page as I was investigating which device is best. I usually compare specs on other things, like Samsung phones, as people maintain a good list of devices there. Please can you unblock my account and re-add the device. I was planning to add more devices later. |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}

If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here with your rationale:

{{unblock reviewed |1=I am a real person not a sock... I was adding the devices to the Amazfit page as I was investigating which device is best. I usually compare specs on other things, like Samsung phones, as people maintain a good list of devices there. Please can you unblock my account and re-add the device. I was planning to add more devices later. |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}

Okay, it's plausible that you aren't a sockpuppet, but we still don't really want this kind of thing on wikipedia. See WP:NOTCATALOG. Are there other things you're interested in editing about? -- asilvering (talk) 20:22, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem unblocking this or the other tagged socks if they commit to WP:COI and WP:PROMO and avoiding that article. --Yamla (talk) 21:05, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again, I would like to reiterate I was simple sharing information which I had gathered and was planning to update it again at a later time.
I do not work for Amazfit or have any affiliation with them. I was simply add information which I have seen for other product lines like Apple Watches or Samsung watches.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Watch#Technical_specifications
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Watch#Specifications
I would like another explanation why these articles are allowed to have device specification when this article isn't. Editor446 (talk) 23:31, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes. Well, the answer for Samsung Galaxy Watch is that it's just a single product, so that makes a bit more sense. For Apple Watch, there's really no excuse. I'm surprised to see that, but I guess I'll have to accept that I don't edit on consumer electronics and don't know the norms there. In any case, you'd need to use reliable sources (see WP:RS) if you were to make edits like that in the future - you didn't provide any sources in that edit to Amazfit. But I do think Yamla's suggestion that you avoid the Amazfit article as a condition of your unblock is a good one. Do you have something else you'd like to edit? -- asilvering (talk) 02:42, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't understand why I am "banned" from adding to the Amazfit page. The only reason I assume is that Apple and Samsung are larger companies and if one of you Admin were to modify it, then you would get some harsh feedback..
Well, as you can tell I'm new to adding things to Wikipedia. As I said I was planning to add more info to the page with citations later but now I cannot.
My IP and account both seem to still be blocked, I'll just leave the hard work to you guys and leave my account to expire. Editor446 (talk) 11:50, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
