User talk:Edenturpin/Agricultural zoning
Jeff's comments
[edit]Great work! This really expands on this topic. A few comments:
- Is there no more recent estimate of EAZ area since 1989?
- Your second paragraph of the EAZ section - what is a non-EAZ? Does that mean no regulation? It sounds like a different program ("it discourages non-farm activity"), so you should define it.
- The "Activism" section - It seems to be mostly about opposition to it. I wonder if a different title to this section would help. Consider a new paragraph that details the program's founding? You jump right into opposition, but I don't know if this is a new or old program. Dates would be helpful throughout, including your "Property Rights" section and also the case studies.
- "Agricultural zoning came with hostility..." - This is awkward. I think you're saying that the activist groups were hostile to zoning practices? Reword.
- "...hoping to grow case on overturning agricultural zoning" is also awkward.
- " Critisism" is mispelled.
- "environment protection hustle" - I'd reword. Most readers won't know what that means. This latter part of the paragraph could use a citation.
- What's a "New York district"?
- "protection of high property taxes" - Do you mean that it lowered property taxes? If so, that's a KEY point to make somewhere - that an incentive for landowners is to reduce their taxes by participating.
Overall, you've added a lot to this topic. Do you have any info about biodiversity or conservation in your citations? Try to work something in - farmland vs. development is easily pointed to as being a lower environmental impact. Your tone is appropriate - unbiased - for Wikipedia.
